The #DisabilityPride flag was created by disabled artist Ann Magill to show pride and solidarity for the disability community. The black background symbolizes mourning and rage for victims of ableist violence or abuse and each colored stripe represents a different type of disability: Red: Physical Yellow: Cognitive and Intellectual White: Invisible and undiagnosed Blue: Psychosocial Green: Sensory The original flag created in 2019 was bright and had zig zag stripes but members of the disability shared feedback that the bright colors and/or zig zag stripes could negatively trigger their disabilities, such as migraines and seizures. The updated Disability Pride flag was released in October 2021. Image description: The background is the Disability Pride flag of diagonal colors. The colors from right to left are: black, red, yellow, white, blue, green. The text is “Erie” and “It’s Disability Pride Month”. There are people with raised fists and two are carrying purple flags.

Erie employees and their families gathered ahead of the Chicago Pride Parade yesterday to recognize Pride Month and share our support of our Queer communities. At Erie, we celebrate the dignity and worth of each of our patients and staff, and value everyone’s unique differences. It may be the end of Pride month, but its not the end of our pride. 🌈 #pridemonth 🌈

Erie Family Health Centers reposted this
Last night, the Erie Family Health Centers Black Employee Resource Group hosted its 2nd annual Juneteenth Social at Ina Mae’s Tavern. A fantastic occasion to meet new faces and reunite with familiar ones as we commemorate “Freedom Day” with food and fellowship. Juneteenth is a company holiday at Erie, and we are closed for business. A big shoutout to my amazing co-chair, Kimberly M. Williams, for her exceptional coordination of this event. #Juneteenth #EmployeeEngagement
