  • As we spend this week reflecting on the freedoms gained for the people of this nation on our Independence Day, we also want to acknowledge the freedoms that came after July 4th, 1776. In June, Metropolitan Family Services marked Juneteenth with special celebrations and recognitions of the end of slavery in the United States. It was not until June 19, 1865, two years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation, that government troops marched to Galveston, TX to notify enslaved people that they were free. MFS is inspired to make this a time for reflection, restoration, and rejoicing. Enjoy this video sharing some of our center's celebrations:

  • CBIZ spent an afternoon at our DuPage Addison Children’s School, in support of Head Start Early learners. They weeded, added mulch, cleaned and sanitized toys. One member of our Head Start staff, Laura A., shared that “Having a corporate sponsor do volunteer work in our classrooms is incredibly meaningful. It demonstrates a commitment to education and community engagement, while also providing valuable support for our teachers in our classrooms. It creates a collaborative environment where everyone benefits. Thank you for your volunteer time!! I really appreciate all the help you provided at ACC."

  • July is Disability Pride Month, a time to honor the experiences, achievements, and challenges faced by people living with disabilities, whether visible or invisible. July signifies the passing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in 1990. This pillar of civil rights legislation promises equal opportunities to all in areas such as employment, housing, access to services, and full participation in society.

    • The image features a graphic for Disability Pride Month, sponsored by Metropolitan Family Services. It has a black background with diagonal multicolored stripes in shades of pink, yellow, blue, green, and orange across the top left corner. Bold, capitalized white text in the center reads "DISABILITY PRIDE MONTH" followed by "Honoring the experiences, achievements, and challenges faced by people living with disabilities" in smaller font size. The Metropolitan Family Services logo is placed at the bottom right.
  • MFS is honored to be among the 2024 recipients recently honored at Chicago White Sox Charities Day! Through initiatives such as Charities Day, CWSC raises funds to promote youth education and advancement, share the love of the game through youth baseball initiatives, assist children and families in crisis and champion those battling cancer. CWSC has donated more than $47 million to non-profit organizations and community programs across the city and surrounding areas.
