#PostOfTheWeek In the first of a three-part blog series highlighting DAI’s support for developing carbon markets, Christy Owen talks to Barry Flaming, DAI’s Senior Technical Advisor on Climate, Natural Resources, and Private Sector Engagement, about his work supporting a global investor buy-in program to assess opportunities for developing carbon removal projects. In this context, carbon removal refers to nature-based solutions such as restoring natural ecosystems—forests, wetlands, mangroves, agricultural areas, etc.—to increase carbon stocks in vegetation and soils. This includes projects that might build off USAID landscape investments to help meet private sector partners’ net-zero commitments. We are proud to present the impact of our USAID-funded water security, sanitation, and hygiene (WSSH) and water resource management (WRM) activities over the last 8-9 years. These complex challenges require comprehensive solutions. For this reason, we use a systems-based approach, focusing on enabling conditions for change, building the capacity of local stakeholders, and amplifying the voices of end-users (especially marginalized groups). For more on our WSSH and WRM activities and projects, please see our 2023 Sustainability Report: https://rb.gy/hmxwlc. To enhance electoral administration and outcomes for the upcoming governorship election in Ondo state, the DAI-implemented and EU-funded European Union Support to Democratic Governance in Nigeria Programme (EU-SDGN) project conducted a two-day training workshop for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) staff. The training aimed to improve the proficiency of INEC staff in delivering elections with integrity. The workshop focused on six priority areas: electoral administration, strategic planning, internal and external communication, electoral training, legal and policy framework, election technology, and engagement with State Independent Electoral Commissions (SIECs). Addressing Jordan's challenge of aligning education with the specific needs of its labor market is crucial for sustainable economic growth. Recognizing this need, DAI, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and with support from the European Union, is implementing a transformative project aimed at bridging skill gaps through Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). This initiative ensures that graduates are equipped with the latest skills demanded by #employers, thereby enhancing their #employability and driving productivity and innovation across various sectors. https://bit.ly/3S3mn8x As part of our commitment, our technical team has conducted a workshop as part of a broader series closely aligned with Jordan’s Economic Modernization Vision. https://bit.ly/4bAW94o. These workshops have developed rigorous standards tailored for sectors such as #engineering, #IT, #business, #agriculture, and others, currently undergoing final adjustments to ensure students are well-prepared for the workforce by the 2024-2025 academic year. #EU I #HashemiteKingdomofJordan I #Education I #TVET I #Employment I Isabel Naylon I Isaline Ameryckx

By 2027, USAID Nepal seeks to build the capacity of 50 water and sanitation-related institutions, extend access to safely managed sanitation to more than 16,000 people, and improve access to basic water services for 75,500 people. USAID #Karnali Water’s efforts in Naulakot, Pokharikanda, Bijulekh, and beyond, are driving progress in pursuit of those goals: As of late 2023, the activity has strengthened water security in 64 communities throughout the Karnali river basin, reaching more than 12,850 residents with a sustainable, improved drinking water facility at their doorsteps to promote hygienic and healthy lifestyles and prevent communities from deadly water-borne diseases.
