A Marie Sklodowska Curie Innovative Training Network, about the impacts of collaborative workspaces in rural areas

About us

CORAL-ITN "Exploring the impacts of collaborative workspaces in rural and peripheral areas in the EU" is a Marie Sklodowska Curie Ιnnovative Training Network (2021-2024) that aims to provide specialized and tailor-made training to 15 PhD researchers to better understand and support the development processes of CWS in rural and peripheral areas, their wider impacts at the local and regional level, as well as at the level of the individual worker and the enterprise. CORAL consortium brings together nine internationally recognised research institutions enjoying an excellent reputation (beneficiaries: Leibniz-Institute for Regional Geography-IfL, Politecnico di Milano-Polimi, Paris School of Business-PSB, Leibniz-Institute for Research on Society and Space-IRS, Panteion University, partner organisations: Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, University of Lille, Leipzig University, University of Vienna, University of Graz), with cutting-edge expertise in the scientific assessment of several aspects of CWS and local socio-economic development, and six non-academic participants (beneficiaries: European Creative Hubs Network- ECHN, Otelo, Saxon Association of Cultural & Creative Industries- SACCI and the Impact Hub Global- IHG, partner organisations: Region of Western Greece, Metro Kuldiga), with extensive practical and policy expertise at the forefront of supporting, implementing and making use of CWS in rural and peripheral areas. This project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement No 955907.

    ✨We had an enriching 4th Day filled with insightful sessions! ☄️The event kicked off with Ulrich Ermann's lecture on the performativity of markets, followed by Ernst M. Preininger's workshop on digital commons in agriculture. 🌾Participants then explored the creative application of improvisational theatre in qualitative research with Sabine Hostniker. 🌱The afternoon session delved into coworking in Upper Austria, featuring Johannes Meinhardt and a dynamic discussion with Alexandra Wrbka and Mikel Oleaga, moderated by Eleonora Psenner. 🍻We are now looking forward to visiting Brewery Schloss Eggenberg!

    🎉 Today was a truly inspiring and engaging day filled with knowledge sharing, creativity, and connection. 🦸♀️We kicked off with a keynote speech by Barbara Grabher from the University of Brighton on "Event-based regeneration and its potential for infrastructural transformation of mobility." The session featured enriching discussions with Chen Gao and Danai Liodaki, moderated by Helyaneh Aboutalebi Tabrizi. ⭐ This session set the tone for the day, highlighting innovative ideas and fostering deep discussions on transforming mobility infrastructure. 🧞♂️Next, Martin Hollinetz and CORAL supervisors led a workshop on "How to finish the PhD." This session offered valuable tips, strategies, and support, empowering PhD candidates to navigate their research journey successfully. 🧚♀️In the afternoon, we dedicated time to creativity with a workshop titled "Conveying research through collage," led by Mary Mayrhofer. Participants explored innovative ways to express their research visually, unlocking new perspectives and creative approaches. 🪶The collage exhibition showcased the wonderful works created during the creative workshop. Led by Mary Mayrhofer, this exhibition was a testament to the participants' creativity and the innovative ways they found to represent their research.     🌟 What an amazing Day 2 at the CORAL School in Vorchdorf 🌟 🚀We kicked off with an insightful session on the role of collaborative workspaces in boosting human capital for innovation and entrepreneurship, led by Ilaria Mariotti. Discussions followed with Juan Diaz and Mikel Oleaga, moderated by Francesca Ciccarelli. 📊After a refreshing coffee break, we dove into the CORAL findings, where Lorenzo Marmo, Vera Fx Fabinyi, and Colm Stockdale shared key messages and index insights. 🛣Our 1st Roundtable explored strategies and funding schemes for CWS and regional development, featuring a powerhouse panel including MEP Hannes Heide(MEP), Rob. Oberfrank (Austrian Ec. Chamber), Ines Schiller (Mayor of Bad Ischl), and others, moderated by Nikos Gatsinos. 📔In the afternoon, our 2nd Roundtable tackled the dynamics of rural and peripheral CWS between entrepreneurialism and community development, with expert insights from Simone Sasso (JRC), Dimitris Manoukas, Federica Rossi, Yue M. Mao, Colm Stockdale and Chen Gao, guided by Costantino ROMEO.  👀Stay tuned for Day 3
