Working towards the proportional representation of Black & Latinx technologists in the innovation economy.

About us

Code2040 is a community of Black and Latinx technologists and their allies who are diversifying tech to create a more equitable, inclusive, and prosperous economy. Through high-impact direct service programs, robust in-person and online community engagement, and dynamic storytelling and knowledge sharing, Code2040 empowers and mobilizes diversity champions across the industry. Our goal is to ensure that by 2040 – the beginning of the decade when the US will be majority people of color – Black and Latinx people are fully represented in and leading the innovation economy, and have the economic and social capital needed to thrive and build generational wealth.

New on the blog! At Code2040, we believe in the power of community and the potential of our youth to change the world. In June, we gathered 53 Black and Latinx technologists in Oakland for the start of our Fellows Program, where they embarked on a transformative journey toward shaping the future of tech. Read: www.code2040.org/blog Join us in supporting Black and Latinx technologists through our We Are The Future of Tech summer campaign. The Supreme Court's decision to end affirmative action marked a critical moment for racial equity in the tech industry. We must fight harder than ever to ensure Black and Latinx technologists thrive. Affirmative action helped bridge structural disparities, giving marginalized students a pathway into higher education and tech careers. Its removal threatens to widen the gap. We can't let this setback define our future. “We need to understand the Supreme Court’s ruling as part of a concerted backlash against the racial justice uprisings of 2020 and prepare to fight for racial equity everywhere, including the tech industry: our future depends on it,” writes Code2040 CEO Mimi Fox Melton. Black and Latinx technologists are the future. Despite systemic barriers, they bring unparalleled creativity and resilience to the industry. It’s our duty to support them and ensure they can lead the change we need. https://lnkd.in/gcsKmQ76
