Home is more than four walls and a roof 🏡 It is a place where we should feel safe and loved 🧡 Everyone deserves a home — and that includes pets in shelters 😸🐶 Shelter and rescue workers like you are working hard to find homes for every pet, but the reality is that today, not every dog and cat gets to experience the love and comfort of home. 💔 All we need is just 6% more people to choose to adopt versus purchase their pets to close the national lifesaving gap and #SaveThemAll! 🧡 Help us #BringLoveHome for pets across our nation - share and get your community involved in lifesaving! 🧡🐾 Visit bestfriends.org/home to learn more.

Best Friends Lifesaving Center in NYC had a very special guest over the weekend: Alex Bowman, NASCAR driver of the No. 48 Ally Chevrolet. He stopped by to help #BringZoomiesHome 💨 Inspired by his personal dogs Finn and Huck (and previous dog who has since passed, Roscoe), Alex and Ally Racing have been supporting Best Friends since 2021. Since the first year, together they have given more than $650,000 to Best Friends and select network partners. For each race, Best Friends nominates a local network parter to receive a $4,800 donation -- and if Alex wins, the donation increases to $10,000! For this race, the lucky Network Partner to receive the donation was Lycoming County SPCA, located in Williamsport, Pennsylvania 👏

Tamsen Kingry, CEO of the Richmond SPCA, remembers the exact moment she questioned everything she thought she knew about who makes a good adopter. It was during a staff training session about open adoptions. "I will never forget that the facilitator asked the room to stand up, then she proceeded to ask us a series of questions: ✅ 'If you've ever lived in an apartment where you weren't permitted to have a pet, but you did, sit down.' ✅ 'If you've ever had a pet who had not been kept up to date on vaccinations, sit down.' The facilitator needed to ask three questions before the entire room was seated, and of course these were animal welfare professionals, and there wasn't a single one of us that were still standing. It was at that precise moment that we all looked at each other and said, 'If we would not adopt to ourselves, then who is it that we think we're adopting to?'" Need to take a look at what barriers you might have in the way of potential adopters saving lives? Check out this Client Service & Barrier-Free Adoptions training module: https://lnkd.in/e8vCnbqM
