Paul Caruana Galizia, an esteemed journalist at Tortoise Media, has been appointed as the Jury Chair for the #IJ4EU Impact Award 2024! Paul became a journalist at Tortoise after his mother, Daphne Caruana Galizia, was assassinated. Since then, he has won an Orwell Prize Special Award, a British Journalism Award, a Press Award, and other honors for his reporting. Together with his brothers, he has received a Magnitsky Human Rights Award and an Anderson-Lucas-Norman Award for their campaign to achieve justice for Daphne. His book, "A Death in Malta," won the Cornelius Ryan Award from the Overseas Press Club. Paul's unwavering dedication to uncovering the truth and his exemplary reporting make him the perfect choice to lead the jury for this year’s IJ4EU Impact Award! This year’s IJ4EU’s Impact Award ceremony will take place as a common event of our UNCOVERED Conference and the iMedD International Journalism Forum in Athens: https://uncovered.ij4.eu/

Arena for Journalism in Europe reposted this
«There's a swing between two extremes: very severe events - brief but extremely intense, with the fall of large amounts of water - followed by droughts for increasingly longer periods», says Giulio Boccaletti, a physician and PhD in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, interviewed in the new story of the Groundwater series. "Under the Surface. The Po River Water Crisis and its Future" is the title of the article written by Elisabetta Tola and Marco Boscolo, with a focus on reservoirs, water scarcity, and extreme weather events. Read it on the Il Bo Live website: https://lnkd.in/dVMPkdGD. Pic by Michele Lapini. Thanks to Journalismfund Europe and Arena for Journalism in Europe. Media partner: Datadista and Reporters United.

"Under the Surface" – a pioneering investigation into Europe's groundwater crisis. This cross-border project is the first investigation coordinated by Arena's Climate Network and delved into official data to uncover the qualitative and quantitative condition of groundwater across Europe. Congratulations to Le Monde investigative journalist Stéphane Horel, who received the 2024 AJSPI Journalist Prize from The French Association of Science Journalists for the #ForeverPollutionProject 🎖️ The FPP is a collaboration of journalists and media from across Europe unveiling the scale and character of the pollution with PFAS. "In total, journalists from 13 different European countries collaborated on this investigation. The coordination would have been impossible without the support of Arena for Journalism in Europe. It is a reference in Europe in terms of investigative journalism, whose objective is to promote and support initiatives like that of the FPP," said Stephanie in an interview published on AJSPI website: https://t.ly/BheiF Arena for Journalism in Europe supported the cross-border collaborative process and helped scale up the investigation from 5 to 18 European media. The project was financially supported by Journalismfund Europe and Investigative Journalism for Europe (IJ4EU). Read more about the project here: https://lnkd.in/daKmTee4
🏅 Remise du prix AJSPI 2024, hier soir, à Stéphane Horel (Le Monde), lors de notre soirée de fin de saison. Merci au GHU Paris pour son accueil !
