Many people start a personal brand on social and jump to the metric of likes, comments and followers for success. But that isn’t always the case, especially for more professional content. I know for me, I read lots of posts and articles without ever liking or commenting. So really think about what success looks like for you. For me, I look at the reach of my content and how many people outside of my follower base watch it. I also look at saves and shares, showing someone felt the content was valuable enough to share or keep for later. And when it comes to followers, yes it is important, but take a look at your retention rate. How many are falling off? If it takes you a long time to gain followers, but they stay, that’s not a bad thing!

I see all these dogshit hacks from dogshit people about how to grow your personal brand, or how to growth hack followers, or how by following these 3 simple hooks you'll spike your engagement by %. Soup brained thoughts by cowards who lie about their age on Hinge. At it's core, brand is a long conversation. You can't overly strategise for it. You can't plan hook variations to 'win' the conversation. You can't use hacks to pretend to be something you're not because, as I said, personal brand is a very long conversation. Eventually the real you will be revealed and if it's not aligned with how you've been presenting yourself then we'll all secretly talk shit about you behind your back. Be authentic or DONT POST.

Do nothing. It’s your personal brand. If that isn’t engaging it doesn’t matter. A lot of people’s ’personal’ brand is about sharing the work of other people. Good for engagement but nothing to do with them. Stick with it. One person who engages fully with you is better than a thousand meaningless likes.

I am always experimenting with different methods. This doesn't just mean posting different topics, methods, or times. It could mean engaging with others' posts or sharing others' posts. The use of graphics or pictures is also very important to me. It has to be authentic and relatable to the topic. I don't fret if a post doesn't perform like I think it will. Because, on the flip side, a post I don't think will perform does. My advice is to have FUN and Be Authentic!

Start with a photo shoot, you’ll need some key scenes like you on phone happy, you reading a book, arms folded leaning against wall, exaggerated laugh while walking with someone, you working on a MacBook, you working on a MacBook while on a phone, you working on a MacBook while on a phone drinking a coffee, you working on a MacBook while on a phone drinking a coffee while reading a book and backwards chair pose. Now you have 500-600 photos of yourself, post one image with each post but make sure that image has nothing to do with the post. That’s the formula.

What are you really trying to achieve ask yourself this first. If you are not sharing value then don’t expected to be listened to. Experiment, don’t lose hope if things are not working. You have to find your style and then work at it more. Never put something out there if you don’t feel it and I mean feel it. Like, share and comment on posts you find interesting. Give people a reason to help and promote your brand.

Most of the time there is something missing or too much on social media for having the desired results. Run a quick analysis to understand the reason. Something revealing about my experience was that there was a personal touch missing, we simply worked on the Owners profile to get the desired attention. Also to add links, wherever possible within the website, other platforms that link all the social media. This differs to each cause of low traction.
