What Is AppSelector, and Is It Safe to Uninstall?

AppSelector is a T-Mobile feature that provides you with control over the apps that are installed on your phone during the initial startup process. You can safely uninstall AppSelector using the standard process for uninstalling Android apps, but T-Mobile can put it back on your phone through an update later.

What Is AppSelector?

AppSelector is an app that comes preinstalled on new T-Mobile phones. When you first set up your T-Mobile device or after factory resetting a T-Mobile device, AppSelector allows you to select and install other applications that you may find helpful.

It automatically suggests apps based on your phone usage, meaning you must agree to send usage data to the app developer for it to work.

This feature is helpful for users who don’t know what apps they need because it automatically suggests apps you may need based on phone usage and a questionnaire. It can cause issues on phones that don’t have a lot of storage, though; in some cases, it can install apps you don’t want.

How Does AppSelector Work?

Does Uninstalling AppSelector Remove Other Apps?

AppSelector will help you find and install apps, but it has nothing to do with managing apps after they have been installed. If you install apps through AppSelector and later uninstall AppSelector, the other apps will still be on your phone. You can manage and update those apps through the Google Play Store just like all your other apps, and you can uninstall them manually using the same method you used to uninstall AppSelector itself.
