This article explains three methods for how to find the IP address of your Roku.
How to Find Roku IP Address With Your Remote
In the settings for your Roku is a section that shows the IP address. You need the remote or the Roku mobile app to follow these steps. Here's where to look:
-
Press the Home button on the remote to reach the home screen.
-
Navigate to Settings > Network.
-
Select About. There, you'll find your Roku's IP address and other useful network information.
How to Find Roku IP Address Without a Remote
Sometimes, you might not be able to reach your Roku's menus directly, like when you're troubleshooting or trying to set something up from another room. But don't worry, you can still find your Roku's IP address through your network using a few different methods.
Use the Remoku Chrome Extension
Remoku is a virtual remote for your Roku that runs as an extension in the Chrome web browser. It's also super useful for displaying the IP address of the Roku. It's easy to use:
-
Open the Remoku extension in Chrome and select Add to Chrome.
Learn how to add extensions to Chrome if you're stuck.
-
Select the Extensions icon to the right of the address bar, and then choose Remoku from the list.
-
Select the Settings tab at the top of the pop-up window.
-
Confirm that the My Network and How Many Rokus values are correct.
The first value has to do with your default gateway; it tells the extension how to scan for the Roku. The second value can be left as 1 unless you're looking for the IP address of multiple Roku devices.
-
Select Scan. Remoku will look for the Roku on your network and identify its IP address.
If nothing shows up from the scan, double-check the My Network address. If you have to, find your default gateway IP address and put the correct numbers in the spaces provided.
Look Through Your Router
If you'd prefer a more direct approach, there's another option, but it depends on your router. Most routers have a way to view the devices currently connected to them. Here's how to see if your router can do this:
-
Log in to your router's admin interface. If your network is controlled via an app, open the app.
-
Open the section that displays connected devices. It might be called Wi-Fi, Status, Devices, or something similar. Feel free to poke around the various pages you see; every router is different.
-
Tap the Roku from the list. The IP address is displayed.
