What to Know

  • A Peacock Premium Plus (ad-free) subscription is required. Downloads are only available on smartphones and tablets.
  • Open Peacock > find a movie or show that supports downloads > select the item > tap Download.
  • To watch: Open Peacock > tap the Downloads icon in the navigation bar > select the download you want to watch.

This article explains what you need and how to officially download videos (when allowed) from within the Peacock app. Once you download something, you can watch it offline.

How to Download Videos on Peacock

So long as you have a Premium Plus account and are using a compatible smartphone or tablet, the downloading process is fairly straightforward.

  1. Open the Peacock app on your smartphone or tablet and navigate to a movie or TV series you want to save for later.

  2. If it’s a movie that can be downloaded, you’ll see a Download option below the title (or Download with Premium Plus if you aren’t a Premium Plus member).

  3. If it’s a TV series, scroll down to the episode list to find the Download (or Download with Premium Plus) option in the top-right corner of the screen.

  4. Tap the Download button to begin downloading the video.

If you see Download with Premium Plus, the downloading feature will not work unless you upgrade your subscription.

Watching Your Downloads

When you’re ready to start watching one of your downloaded videos offline:

  1. Open the Peacock app, which should automatically jump to the Downloads section when it detects that your device isn’t connected to the internet.

  2. If the app doesn’t automatically switch to Downloads, or if you want to watch downloaded videos while online, tap the Download icon in the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen. It’s the second icon from the right and looks like a downward arrow pointing to a straight, horizontal line.

  3. Choose the video you want to watch and start watching. If you’ve downloaded a TV series, first choose the series and then select the episode you want to watch.

Due to the way the Peacock app stores downloaded videos, you can't transfer them to another device (like, say, your computer) to watch instead. You can only watch downloaded Peacock videos through the app on a smartphone or tablet.

How to Delete Downloaded Videos in the Peacock App

When you’re done watching a download or decide you don’t need to have it saved anymore, you have options. You can wait for the download to be deleted automatically (30 days if unwatched, 48 hours if watched), sign out of or delete the app, or delete downloads manually.

  1. Open the Peacock app and navigate to the Downloads menu. It’s the second icon from the right (an arrow pointing down to a horizontal line) in the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen.

  2. Find and select the downloaded video you want to delete.

  3. On the info page, locate and tap the Downloaded option (beneath the title for movies or at the top of the episode list for TV shows).

  4. Tap the Delete Download option when it appears to remove the selected content.

Other Tips for Downloading from Peacock

As with most other streaming services, you’ll need to sign up for Peacock to watch anything on it. That being said, access to the downloading feature requires a Premium Plus account (the more costly, ad-free option).

You’ll also need to use the official app on a compatible smartphone or tablet. Hardware specifications aren’t all that important outside of whether or not they can run the necessary operating system. Peacock states that downloads will require devices using either Android 6.0 and up or iOS (or iPadOS) 14 and newer.

Not all videos in the Peacock library support downloads, and some that do only let you download them a total of 10 times (11th+ attempts are blocked).

Additionally, an account is limited to 25 total downloads at a time across all connected devices (also limited by device storage space), so you may need to delete a video to save a new one.

Once you start watching a video, you have 48 hours to finish it before the download deletes automatically. Otherwise, unwatched downloads remain for 30 days. Logging out of your account in the app–or deleting it entirely–will also delete all of your stored downloads.
