    How to Change Your Epic Name for Fortnite

    If you're unhappy with your Fortnite username for any reason and you want to change it, you'll have to change it through Epic Games. Your Epic Games display name is the name that shows up in Fortnite. Fortunately, it's pretty simple to change.

    While you can start this process from the Epic Games Launcher, you will be required to finish it on the Epic Games website using a web browser.

    1. If you're starting on the web, log into the Epic Games website and tap your account icon in the upper right corner.

      If you're starting in the Epic Games Launcher, tap your account icon in the lower-left corner and choose Manage Account. This will take you to the account page on the Epic Games website.

    2. Both actions will take you to your General Settings page. Tap the blue pencil (Edit) icon next to your display name.

    3. An editing dialog box will open. Type your new display name in the field provided, and then type it again in the confirmation field.

    4. Place a checkmark in the box next to I understand I can not change my display name again for 2 weeks after this change.

    5. Click Confirm.

    6. You're returned to the Settings page, and you should see a green bar at the top of the page confirming the display name has been updated. Now, the next time you log into Fortnite, you should see your new name displayed.

      If you've gotten to the Settings page from the Epic Games Launcher, you may need to restart the launcher to see the name change.

    Things to Know About Changing Your Fortnite Name

    The most important thing to know about this process is it won't change your Gamertag on PlayStation, Xbox, or Switch. So, if you're playing Fortnite on a console, you may need to change that Gamertag to change your Fortnite name. These articles will help:
