REXBURG, Idaho — Bryan Grover will be known as a man who was happy, upbeat, genuine and above all, would help people.
"I think the thing that stands out to me was his concern for others. He was always helping, even when he had plenty on his plate to do. He would drop what he was doing and go and help. It was a Christlike quality," Matt Grover said of his son Bryan Grover.
Bryan Grover died on June 25 in a vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 20 in Madison County, Idaho. Family members have created a GoFundMe* confirming he was in the crash.
"It's going to be a big hole that will never probably be filled, but he lived a good life," Matt Grover said.
Bryan Grover was 33. He lived in the Lyman area with his wife Hayley Grover and five young children. He liked to go camping and four-wheeling with his family.
Hayley Grover provided a statement to EastIdahoNews.com about her husband.
"Bryan was loving, hardworking, and always trying to make others laugh. Bryan could fix anything, whether it be a car, electronics, or household appliances. ... Bryan leaves behind 5 kids ages 11 years to 11 months who he loved dearly. I could go on forever about what kind of person he was.
According to his obituary, he graduated from Brigham Young University-Idaho in 2016, earning his certification as a Master Mechanic and his bachelor's degree in Advanced Automotive Systems.
His father said Bryan Grover was at the top of his class, and he learned how to fix vehicles growing up.
"I have been kind of a car guy all my life. Bryan, he grew up being a little gear head like his dad," Matt Grover said. "He was always fixing cars or four-wheelers. You go out to his garage, and it looks like a dealership with all the parts."
Bryan Grover worked at Tadd Jenkins Chevrolet in Rigby as the parts manager.
"I know at work, they speak really highly of him. They loved him, and he loved what he did there as well," Matt Grover said.
Bryan Grover's older brother Blake Grover said he would miss him. The two were nine years apart, and Blake Grover recalls what he was like as a young kid.
"He was very rambunctious. He and my younger brother Brady were like twins. They were a mischievous pair," he said.
Blake Grover said everyone recently had gotten together for Memorial Day breakfast. They were used to seeing each other on the holidays.
"The next coming days, weeks, months, years…it's going to be tough," Blake Grover said through tears.
A GoFundMe that Blake Grover created for his brother's family to help with funeral costs has raised over $19,000 out of a $20,000 goal as of Friday evening.
"It's just amazing how many people have stepped up and helped. That speaks volumes on the kind of guy he was," Matt Grover said.
He shared what he will miss most about his son: a daily phone call.
"I'm trying not to get emotional here," Matt Grover said, crying. "He would call me every day, like 5 or 5:30 on his way home. He'd call and say: 'What's up, dad!' We were really close. We liked to do a lot of the same things. But he was always checking in to see how things were. We are going to miss him."
