Northern California rainfall and reservoirs update

WELCOME BACK, EVERYONE. TIME RIGHT NOW. 716 LIVE. LOOK AT SACRAMENTO THIS MORNING. DRY RIGHT NOW. BEAUTIFUL. BUT WE HAVE SEEN A NOTABLE AMOUNT OF RAIN SO FAR THIS SEASON. ALL RIGHT. LET’S GO OVER TO METEOROLOGIST KELLY CURRAN NOW. SO KELLY HOW ARE WE DOING WITH THE AMOUNT OF RAIN OVERALL. WELL SOME OF US ARE A LITTLE BIT BELOW AVERAGE. AND OTHERS WELL ABOVE. SO TAKE A LOOK AT SOME OF THESE NUMBERS. THESE ARE THE NUMBERS THAT CAME IN LAST NIGHT. SO AS FOR THE SEASON SACRAMENTO WE’RE AT 16.59IN. SO A LITTLE OVER 16.5. BY THE WAY THE RAIN SEASON STARTS OCTOBER 1ST. SO THAT’S WHERE WE’RE MEASURING FROM. THAT’S 97% OF AVERAGE. WE’RE CLOSE. BUT A LITTLE BIT BELOW LOOK AT MODESTO THOUGH ALMOST 16IN OF RAIN. THAT’S 146% OF WHAT IS NORMAL FOR YOU. SOUTH LAKE TAHOE COMING IN A LITTLE BIT UNDER LET’S TAKE A LOOK AT SOME OF THE RESERVOIRS THOUGH, AND WHERE WE STAND RIGHT NOW. SO SHASTA LAKE IS AT 95% OF CAPACITY. LAST YEAR AT THIS TIME, 87% OF CAPACITY. SO MOST OF THESE RESERVOIRS ARE ACTUALLY A LITTLE BIT BETTER THAN WHERE THEY WERE STANDING LAST YEAR OR LAKE OROVILLE AT 89% OF CAPACITY. FOLSOM LAKE, YOU’RE AT 76 BETTER THAN THE 69% YOU WERE AT LAST YEAR. AND NEW MELONES, YOU’RE AT 84% OF CAPACITY, WAY BETTER THAN LAST YEAR AT 59 9% OF CAPACITY. SO WE COULD USE A LITTLE BIT MORE RAIN, BUT AT LEAST THINGS ARE LOOKING CLOSE
