Northern California forecast: Sierra red flag warning continues Sunday

Northern California forecast: Sierra red flag warning continues Sunday
FORECAST FOR THIS SUNDAY. YEAH, WE’VE GOT QUITE A FEW CLOUDS AROUND THE AREA AND EVEN A FEW SHOWERS TO GET THINGS GOING ON THIS SUNDAY MORNING. THIS IS A LIVE LOOK OUTSIDE AT LAKE TAHOE RIGHT NOW IN SACRAMENTO. VERY COMFORTABLE 63 DEGREES. STOCKTON’S AT 67, MODESTO 72. AND UP AT LAKE TAHOE. WE’RE AT 55 DEGREES. TAKE A LOOK AT THE SATELLITE RADAR COMPOSITE THOUGH, BECAUSE WE DO HAVE SOME ACTION GOING ON. WE’VE GOT SOME LIGHT SHOWERS THAT ARE KIND OF TRACKING THEIR WAY THROUGH THE AREA. WE’VE GOT A FEW UP BY LAKE TAHOE AS WELL, BUT IT’S THIS BATCH OF SHOWERS THAT’S MOVING ITS WAY NORTHWARD, KIND OF PASSING THROUGH THE MARIPOSA AREA NOW HEADING UP SOME OF THE LIGHTER SHOWERS INTO SONORA. BUT THE STRONGEST OF THAT IS GOING TO STAY IN THE HIGHER TERRAIN. AND AGAIN, THAT IS A LOT OF LIGHTNING. AND OF COURSE, THIS TIME OF YEAR, LIGHTNING IS, OF COURSE, A CONCERN BECAUSE IT COULD SPARK OFF SOME FIRES. BUT IT DOES LOOK LIKE THIS ONE IS AT LEAST PRODUCING SOME PRETTY GOOD RAINFALL WITH IT AS WELL. SO THAT IS GOOD NEWS. NOW, FUTURECAST, AS WE SET THIS IN MOTION, WE COULD SEE A FEW MORE SPOTTY SHOWERS AS WE HEAD THROUGHOUT THE MORNING HOURS. BUT AS WE GET INTO THE AFTERNOON, THAT’S WHEN WE EXPECT TO SEE MORE THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOPING OVER THE SIERRA. NOW WE MIGHT SEE SOME OF THOSE IN LAKE TAHOE. IT LOOKS LIKE THE BULK OF IT IS GOING TO STAY TO OUR EAST OVER INTO NEVADA, BUT IT’S NOT OVER AND DONE WITH AFTER TODAY IN FACT, EVEN AS WE GET INTO MONDAY, THERE IS THAT SLIGHT CHANCE FOR SOME THUNDERSTORMS IN THE HIGHER TERRAIN OF COURSE, ANY OF THOSE THUNDERSTORMS WHERE THE RAIN DOESN’T MAKE IT ALL THE WAY TO THE GROUND, THAT’S WHEN WE HAVE DRY LIGHTNING, GUSTY WINDS, AND THAT IS A RECIPE FOR SOME PROBLEMS. SO WE DO HAVE A RED FLAG WARNING OR HEIGHTENED FIRE DANGER UNTIL 8:00 SUNDAY FOR ALL THE AREAS SHADED IN RED. AND THAT DOES INCLUDE MOST OF THE SIERRA HERE. SO JUST KEEP IN MIND DRY LIGHTNING, GUSTY WINDS. THAT COULD DEFINITELY BE A PROBLEM. NOW LET’S TALK ABOUT THE SEVEN DAY FORECAST. SO IMPACT DAY FOR TODAY IN THE SIERRA BECAUSE OF THOSE CHANCES FOR THUNDERSTORMS. AND THAT RED FLAG WARNING. WE’RE EXPECTING HIGHS TODAY TO TOP OUT IN THE MID 80S. AND THERE’S THAT SLIGHT CHANCE FOR THUNDERSTORMS AGAIN TOMORROW AFTERNOON AFTER THAT WE’RE DRY WITH HIGHS IN THE 80S FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK FOR THE FOOTHILLS. WE’LL SEE PARTLY SUNNY SKIES AGAIN. THE SLIGHT CHANCE FOR A SPRINKLE OUT THERE THIS MORNING. 97 DEGREES FOR THAT FORECAST HIGH 96 FOR TOMORROW. BUT WE GET BACK UP INTO THE TRIPLE DIGITS AS WE HEAD TOWARD THE WEEKEND. AND FOR SACRAMENTO TODAY, A HIGH OF 97. WE’VE GOT SOME CLOUDS AGAIN, MAYBE A FEW SPRINKLES EARLY THIS MORNING, THEN CLEARING SKIES THIS AFTERNOON, TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY. HIGHS ARE EXPECTED TO BE BELOW NORMAL 91 AND 92. NORMAL HIGH. THIS TIME OF YEAR IS 95. WE WILL THOROUGHLY ENJOY THOSE WHILE THEY LAST BECAUSE TRIPLE DIGITS ARE ON THEIR WAY BACK AS WE HEAD INTO THE WEEKEND, SO WE’LL JUST CONSIDER THIS OUR NICE LITTLE BREAK. OUR LITTLE RESET. ALSO WANT TO POINT OUT THERE’S SOME MORNING LOWS ON THERE THAT ARE IN THE 50S, SO MAYBE WE CAN EVEN GET THE WINDOWS OPEN AND GET SOME FRESH AIR. I KNOW FOR ME IT’S BEEN A WHILE. YES. YEAH AC BILL NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO THAT.
