Welcome to the ICANN80 Policy Forum

9 June 2024
By Tripti Sinha and Sally Costerton

On behalf of the ICANN Board and organization, we would like to welcome everyone to the ICANN80 Policy Forum, which begins on Monday, 10 June 2024, online and in Kigali, Rwanda.

ICANN80 marks the first ICANN Public Meeting to be held in Africa in five years, and an opportunity for community members from across the region and the world to come together virtually and in person.

The four-day Policy Forum is the second of three ICANN Public Meetings each year, with a focus on advancing the work of ICANN's multistakeholder community. This work includes developing policies aimed at expanding the Domain Name System and creating a more multilingual and inclusive Internet.

To recognize the dedication of the ICANN community, the Board will host a reception during ICANN80 to celebrate the invaluable contributions of working group chairs. These community leaders play a vital role in the development of policy and advice at ICANN, which in turn benefits all Internet users worldwide.

Working together, the ICANN community, Board, and organization have made remarkable progress this year toward our shared goals. At the same time, we have challenged ourselves to examine our processes and to experiment with new ideas and approaches.

Many challenges lie before us, so we must remain committed to delivering results, recognizing that we achieve more when we work as one. Together, we can continue to fulfill our mission of ensuring a secure, stable, and unified global Internet.

Whether you are joining us in Kigali or online, we look forward to seeing you at ICANN80!
