    Our Verdict

The Miele Classic C1 Pure Suction Powerline is an exceptional all-around vacuum cleaner that performs admirably on any surface. It cleans up to 99.75% of debris from hardwood, laminate, or tile flooring and also does a great job on carpets, clearing 84.685% of debris from low-pile carpets. And if you have pets, you’ll be pleased to know that it removes pet hair with an efficiency of 98%.

The C1 operates at a moderate noise level of 73.05 dB. It’s not whisper-quiet, but it’s not too loud, either. Its corded design with a 30-foot cord length gives you plenty of reach, so you won’t have to keep changing outlets. The bin capacity is 0.66 gal, the largest among the options on our list, and ideal for keeping you from emptying the bag constantly while you clean. It doesn’t have a HEPA filter, though, which might be an issue if you have allergies.

The Miele Classic C1 Pure Suction Powerline weighs 14.8 pounds, which is heavy. However, the canister design means most of the weight is in the canister itself, not in the wand, so it remains rather easy to move around.

Miele’s Classic C1 Pure Suction Powerline is a fantastic multi-purpose vacuum cleaner. Whether it’s carpets, bare floors, or pet hair, it does a fantastic job cleaning up every surface in your home and uses bags large enough to let you get the job done without having to stop and swap in the middle. All for an exceptionally reasonable mid-range price.

Vacuum Cleaner Test Data & Results

1. Bare Floor Performance Test Results

As the name suggests, bare floor performance references how well a vacuum does when it’s cleaning up tiles, vinyl planks, or hardwood flooring. Debris comes in a variety of sizes of course, and much of the testing revolves around picking up debris that ranges in size from cereal to bits of dirt to sand to a mix of everything above and more.

We recommend that a vacuum be able to pick up at least 90% of debris from a bare floor to ensure you end up with clean floors. Hitting a perfect score is obviously ideal, but the worse a vacuum performs here, the more work you need to do sweeping up or re-vacuuming. Missing debris is frustrating, and can invite pests if you miss bits of food, or annoyance if you step on something barefoot and hurt yourself.

2. Carpet Performance Test Results

Carpet cleaning ability is another important part of how your vacuum performs. Whether you have low-pile, high-pile, or rugs, how effectively a vacuum cleans up the dirt and debris left behind on the carpet is enormously important to keeping your carpet comfortable.

Generally speaking, we recommend a carpet cleaning performance of at least 70%. You might notice this is much lower than bare floors, and that’s because carpet is harder to clean. Short of devoting the time to actually shampoo and dry out a carpet, thoroughly cleaning out a carpet is very difficult, and good vacuums will reach deep between fibers and pull out long-forgotten crumbs.

Best Miele Vacuum: Mistakes To Avoid

  1. Ignoring Maintenance and Bag Options: Not considering the maintenance needs can lead to frustration. Decide whether you prefer a bagged or bagless vacuum. Miele is known for its high-quality bagged vacuums, which often require less frequent maintenance and provide better filtration, but involve ongoing costs for bags.

  2. Not Checking for Attachments and Accessories: Overlooking the need for various attachments can limit the vacuum’s versatility. Ensure the model comes with useful attachments like crevice tools, upholstery brushes, and floorheads for different surfaces. Miele vacuums often come with a range of accessories tailored to specific cleaning tasks.

  3. Underestimating Noise Levels: Choosing a model without considering its noise level can be disruptive. Check the noise level of the vacuum to ensure it won’t be too loud, especially if you have a home office or young children. Miele vacuums are generally known for their quiet operation, but it’s worth verifying.

  4. Failing to Evaluate the Vacuum’s Weight and Maneuverability: Not considering the weight and ease of maneuverability can make cleaning cumbersome. Miele offers both canister and upright models, with canisters typically being lighter and easier to maneuver around furniture and upstairs. Choose a model that fits your physical capabilities and cleaning style.
