The Garfield Movie Digital Release Date Announced for Animated Chris Pratt Movie

While the lasagna-loving indoor cat totally hates Mondays, the week started with delightful news as The Garfield Movie digital release date has been finally announced by Sony. This comes after the Chris Pratt-led movie debuted in theaters on May 24, 2024.

Directed by Mark Dindal, The Garfield Movie — despite its good box office record — was not a critical darling, though it has managed to capture the hearts of audiences. Per its current Rotten Tomatoes score, the animated film carries a 36% critic score and an outstanding 80% audience score. Now, over a month after its theatrical release, the latest Garfield film will soon be available in the comfort of every fan’s home.

When is The Garfield Movie’s digital release date?

The Garfield Movie will come to video-on-demand on July 9, available to purchase and rent digitally. Additionally, some digital retailers will bring extra features such as deleted scenes, gag reels, and more.

The Garfield Movie centers on the titular Monday-hating cat, who — after an unexpected reunion with his estranged biological father — is forced to leave his comfortable, pampered life in exchange for a life of dangerous adventures with his long-lost father.

“Garfield, the world-famous, Monday-hating, lasagna-loving indoor cat, is about to have a wild outdoor adventure! After an unexpected reunion with his long-lost father — scruffy street cat Vic — Garfield and his canine friend Odie are forced from their perfectly pampered life into joining Vic in a hilarious, high-stakes heist,” the official synopsis reads.

The Garfield Movie boasts an ensemble voice cast, including Pratt as the pampered orange cat, Samuel L. Jackson as Garfield’s estranged biological father Vic, Nicholas Hoult as Jon Arbuckle, Hannah Waddingham as Jinx, Harvey Guillén as Odie, Brett Goldstein as Roland, Bowen Yang as Nolan, Ving Rhames as Otto, Cecily Strong as Marge Malone, Janelle James as Olivia, Snoop Dogg as Maurice, and the late Angus Cloud as Snickers.
