There are 2 comments on Using Data Science to Address the Gender and Racial Wage Gap

  1. The 70 cents figure is extremely misleading . It is very simplistic to to just compare average pay rates without analyzing the reasons for the disparity. Women, on average, have fewer years of work experience because the majority of them take years off to have and raise children. Also, men tend to pursue careers that are more high paying and women tend to work more in lower paying industries. If the data are controlled for these factors the so called gender pay gap virtually disappears. According to Forbes the adjusted figure is 94-98 cents, not 70. Other studies have suggested that it is even smaller.
