Netflix’s ‘The Three-Body Problem’ Revived, Derek Tsang to Direct

David Benioff and D.B. Weiss’ ill-fated series is back on track after facing serious scandal when producer Lin Qi died after being poisoned by Yoozoo Group senior executive Xu Yao.

Remember that one time a seemingly innocuous Netflix show became involved in an insidious murder plot? The series adaptation of Liu Cixin's Hugo Award winning sci-fi novel The Three-Body Problem was almost completely swallowed into the void of yesterday’s news, but has since been revived, and Oscar nominated Derek Tsang (Better Days) is set to direct. For those left scratching their heads, the ill-fated series faced serious scandal when producer Lin Qi died after being poisoned by Yoozoo Group senior executive Xu Yao. Apparently, the show must go on.

The Three-Body Problem is the first book in the “Remembrance of Earth’s Past” trilogy, which explores humanity’s preparation for the arrival of a mysterious alien force. Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are set to produce, while Rian Johnson, Rosamund Pike, and Brad Pitt’s Plan B will executive produce. Alexander Woo (True Blood) will act as showrunner.

Neither cast nor release date have been announced. While we’re thankful the series is getting a second chance, is its mere existence disrespectful towards life lost?
