Browsing, Writing & Video Chat

Our professional test tool, PC Mark 8®, performed a series of tests such as video chat, web browsing, and photo editing until the battery ran dry. The results were impressive.

Sony Vaio: Battery life barely passed the 2 hour mark on the aging Sony laptop. Once we used Economy Mode & Flight Mode, the laptop lasted more than 3 1/2 hours.

HP Spectre x360: Similar results could be seen on the HP ultrabook, which saw an increase from almost 3 1/2 hours to 5 hours. Not too bad for just pressing 2 buttons in AVG PC TuneUp.

Watching HD movies

If you like watching movies or TV shows while on a long flight or train ride, battery life is your priority. Thanks to the combined power-saving capabilities of Economy Mode and Flight Mode, battery life was increased noticeably.

Sony Vaio 2011: Once all the power-consuming features of the Sony Vaio were turned off using AVG PC TuneUp, battery life went from barely over 2 hours to 4 1/2 hours: That's enough for one more Hollywood blockbuster.

HP Spectre x360: This one was even more astounding. Apparently all the background activity and Windows' default power management drained the battery after roughly 4 1/2 hours. But once all of this was fixed with AVG, we saw battery life more than double to almost 10 hours.
