Use this tag with questions regarding the use or configuration of the doas utility, used for executing a command or shell as another user.

doas is a utility that, like sudo, allows a user to execute a command as another user (commonly as the root user) or to acquire an interactive shell as that other user.

It originated from the OpenBSD project with the release of OpenBSD 5.8 in late 2015, developed in response to sudo becoming too complex. It is found by default on OpenBSD and on at least Alpine Linux, but may be installed on most favours of Unix.
