  • 🛠️📈 SIL testing and safety enhancements during Phase 3 essential maintenance works 2024 📈🛠️ As part of Phase 3 essential maintenance works at Grain LNG, our teams completed 13 SIL tests, repacked 8 LIN valves and rectified several hazardous area defects.  These important safety measures ensure the continued reliability and safety of our operations. The collaboration between the Static team and other departments was key to the smooth execution of these tasks, highlighting the importance of detailed planning and coordination in complex projects. "With the collaboration of the Static team, we were able to remove the vaporiser actuators that have not been overhauled since installation. We were also able to carry out all SIL testing with minimal impact to Operations." - Chris Duffy, C&I Engineer We are proud of our team's dedication and the successful completion of these essential safety enhancements. #GrainLNG #SafetyFirst #SILTesting #Teamwork #Maintenance

  • Come with us behind the scenes on our vaporiser internal inspections. Not all maintenance tasks at Grain LNG are glamorous; some involve getting into very tight confined spaces. The mechanical static equipment team had to carry out internal inspections on the terminal combustion vaporisers. This equipment converts the liquid back into a gas to allow for distribution into the network. It carries out this process through a heat exchange unit. This unit requires an annual inspection to ensure that it is safe to operate. This precaution has its own safety issues. A safety rescue team is on standby when the inspector enters the vaporiser to remove the inspector if they encounter an issue. Follow our page for more behind-the-scenes insights. #GrainLNG #IndustrialSafety #MaintenanceExcellence

  • CAP 25 Project reaches two major milestones.   We're pleased to share an exciting update from Grain LNG’s CAP 25 project after reaching two major milestones recently.   Firstly, there was the arrival and installation of the new prefabricated Local Equipment Room (LER) 5. The building is an important component of our expansion, and the operation involved two major lifts, 52 tonnes for the first module and 59 tonnes for the second, each carefully planned and executed with precision.  The building is now securely installed on preexisting structural steel supports, with work ongoing on the stairway, platform, and handrail installations.    And then there was the siting of the large Boil Off Gas BOG) Compressors. All three compressors, including the turning gear and motors, were again safely transported to site and lifted into their final location using a 750te Crane. Goke Phillips, Construction Director said, "It was great to see these critical milestones for our project being reached. In the end, all the meticulous planning paid dividends with both hugely complex tasks completed efficiently and above all, safely.”   🏗️ Stay tuned for more updates.   This update is just one of many as we continue to push forward with the CAP 25 project.    We are committed to keeping you informed of the latest developments at Grain LNG.   #CAP25 #InfrastructureDevelopment #GrainLNG

  • Behind the scenes: Lifting operations and overhaul during Phase 3 essential maintenance works. During our recent Phase 3 essential maintenance works at Grain LNG, the Static team faced a significant challenge in overhauling the LNG slamshut valves. The operation required the use of a 300te crane to lift five actuators over the vaporiser vent stacks, only to find that the largest actuator was heavier than anticipated. After re-evaluating and rescoping the job, a 330te crane was brought in, introducing some challenges of its own. Despite these challenges, the team completed the lift safely, learning valuable lessons in planning and execution. “The phase 3 maintenance works was a success due to planning, organisation, collaboration, and teamwork. By ensuring the concurrent planning with other teams and departments, we were able to complete a large package of work on multiple fronts. All of which resulted with us being able to deliver the work on time, and above all, safely.” - Richard Heath IEng MIMechE, Mechanical Static Engineer #GrainLNG #HeavyLifting #EngineeringChallenges #Teamwork
