Tremendous news for our Paddington Elizabeth Line Station, which has won a RIBA National Award 2024. 🏆 The RIBA National Awards are given to buildings across the UK in recognition of their significant contributions to architecture. They provide insight into the country’s architecture, design and social trends. Our Elizabeth Line Station was recognised for its transformation of the passenger experience at Paddington, making it easier to move around and bringing daylight and natural ventilation deep into the station. The station shows how easily award-winning architecture can be woven into people's lives, a true testament to one of our core values: designing projects are people-focused, putting the everyday human experience at the heart of our design. The accolade shows the strength of collaboration generated from ministers, economists and politicians through to designers, builders, manufacturers and operators. We celebrate the win with our partners on the project: Transport for London, AECOM, WSP, Gillespies, Costain Group PLC and Skanska. • We were pleased to hear UK draft laws shared by HM King Charles III in today’s King’s Speech at the State Opening of Parliament. The King outlined the government's legislative plans, which included: 🚌 Train operators to be brought into public ownership, and local leaders to be allowed to "take control" of local bus services; 🏘️ Promises to "get Britain building" by reforming planning procedures to "accelerate" housebuilding across the country; 🚉 Powers to construct rail projects to improve connectivity across the north of England, including a new station at Manchester Piccadilly.   As a global practice with many years’ experience delivering large scale transport infrastructure, including award-winning Elizabeth Line stations at Paddington and Woolwich and stations for a new metro line in Melbourne, we look forward to working with public bodies and local leaders on transport hubs across the UK. We’re also dedicated to working with local authorities on upcoming residential projects that, like our built projects, demonstrate excellence in design, craftsmanship, and attention to detail.   We’re keen to see positive outcomes for regions of the UK that haven't received the investment they’ve required in the past. We're optimistic that the initiatives outlined, particularly redesignated Grey Belt sites and improved efficiency in National Planning Policy, will help to address these issues.   Find out more about our work: https://lnkd.in/eraJyCWp WW+P, part of Egis group | #kingsspeech #ukgovernment #railway #housing #architecture #infrastructure

  • We've secured planning consent for a new interchange and transport hub at Hereford Station. This key regional transport infrastructure project – to be delivered by Herefordshire Council and funded by the UK Government – is designed to boost economic activity in Hereford, and revive the cathedral city’s traditional role as a regional economic hub. In common with the practice’s transport infrastructure projects, we sustained a clear focus on improving the individual traveller's experience. We also undertook detailed engagement throughout the design process with members of the public, including sessions with visually impaired members of the local community where we displayed a high contrast site model, as well as a wide range of stakeholders including Network Rail and Transport for Wales. "Hereford may be a small city, but it plays a critical role in the wider regional economy in the west of England and Welsh border, and our scheme will play a crucial role in boosting economic activity across the region," says Adam Thomas Brown, Project Lead at WW+P. "We are looking forward to delivering a scheme that will enhance Hereford city centre and support transport connections, with a clear focus on improving the experience of individual travellers.” Read more about the project and its planning consent at our website: https://lnkd.in/ePZAr9Na WW+P, part of Egis group | #uk #architecture #publicrealm #placemaking #transporthub

Our Eco Pavillion, built as part of the 2024 London Festival of Architecture, has finished its mini tour around Valentine Place! From conception and construction in our London studio, the pavilion then made its way to the Egis Campus, where it was on display for a number of events. The Pavilion was a collaborative effort between our architectural, digital, and model making experts, creatively reimagining how we inhabit our studio space. We hope you enjoyed interacting with it either at our Open Studios or around Valentine Place. You can read more about the process behind the pavilion at our website, where Giulia Pustorino, Digital Engineering Lead at WW+P, reflects on the installation from start to finish. https://lnkd.in/ecAiSfza WW+P, part of Egis group | #architecture #design #LFA2024 #installation #sculpture

  • HS2's "Bellingham Bridge" is taking shape in Birmingham. HS2 has completed the four huge piers of the Curzon 2 bridge, marking a significant construction milestone on the sequence of viaducts that will take high-speed trains in and out of Birmingham. Nicknamed "Bellingham Bridge” in honour of England superstar and Stourbridge-born Jude Bellingham, the bridge is the tallest structure in the one-mile stretch of connected viaducts being built through the city’s industrial heartland. It will carry high-speed trains over the existing Victorian brick rail viaduct, with a 25-metre-high curved truss displaying a vibrant light installation which will create a new icon on the city’s skyline. The bridge is designed by a joint venture of Mott MacDonald and SYSTRA with us as bridge architects, all working for Balfour Beatty VINCI on behalf of HS2 (High Speed Two) Ltd. “What we are trying to achieve is a new form of beauty. We want to embed sustainability in all our designs, and we want to empower architects with data.” – Giulia Pustorino, Digital Engineering Lead at WW+P. We teamed up with Autodesk to host a 'Autodesk Forma Serious Game' at our London Studio along with 10 Design, our fellow Egis group member. It was an interactive experience designed to train and educate in a fun and engaging way. The goal? To help our team become confident with the new software Autodesk Forma and empower them with data from the platform. With the help of Forma, we analysed the sun, wind and environmental impact of our design decisions. This innovative approach is transforming the design process, enabling us to fast-track sustainable design criteria and assess our design solutions in real-time. In the video, hear from Giulia Pustorino, Marion Baeli and Daniel Moor as well as the winning team: the ‘Black Widow’, represented by Damien Théron. The team took on the challenge with enthusiasm and proved that learning can be fun and rewarding. 🏆   Thank you to Autodesk for bringing the Serious Game to our studio. Watch the video below – and let's shape the future of sustainable design together!   WW+P, part of Egis group | #SustainableDesign #SeriousGame #Autodesk #Forma

Our CEO Rob Naybour, together with Wei Liu and Nicholas Frederick Arthurell from London, connected with clients and fellow designers throughout China in June. It was a busy trip for the London team, our Regional Director Alan Cook and BD lead Leo Yang, with an itinerary that included visits with and explorations of: • Shanghai Metro • The Shanghai Municipal Design Institute Campus • Hangzhou Metro Company • Stations and projects in Wenzhou • Wuhan High Speed Rail Station • China Rail Design Institutes. The team also spent plenty of time at our Hong Kong and Shenzhen Studios and at some of our project sites, returning to the UK fresh with insight on the work that WW+P is doing in China for transport, infrastructure, TOD, and more. Travelling between cities on the extensive high speed rail network, the team was very impressed with quality of infrastructure across SE China. WW+P is enjoying working with our clients and partners across this region. WW+P, part of Egis group | #china #transport #infrastructure #architecture #highspeedrail

We're very proud of our team Jessica May Fergusson and Imani Bailey for being nominated for their volunteer efforts at the 'Leading the Way' event from the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority today. Jessica and Imani were recognised in recognition of supporting young people with their careers in schools in South Yorkshire. It was a wonderful event meeting career leads, senior leaders and partners in South Yorkshire. The WW+P team is looking forward to exploring more volunteering opportunities within careers projects over the next academic year. Three cheers for our volunteers! 👏 WW+P, part of Egis group | #architecture #careers #volunteering #southyorkshire
