Opened in 1934, when the modern architectural profession was being forged, our Grade II* listed home can tell us a lot about the values and beliefs of architects in that period, and of wider society. Our latest exhibition explores the narratives and attitudes embedded within the fabric of RIBA’s headquarters at 66 Portland Place, London, unpacking themes such as gender, race and imperialism through a series of new and exciting creative works. Discover a variety of new artistic interventions from Esi Eshun, Thandi Loewenson, Arinjoy Sen and Giles Tettey Nartey, uncover the building’s complicated history and share your hopes for the future of architecture. ⏰ Monday to Saturday: 10am to 5pm (Tuesday: 10am to 8pm), Sunday: closed 📍 66 Portland Place, London 🎟️ Free entry ➡️ Plan your visit: https://ow.ly/OiXV50RqVek

RIBA reposted this
Brilliant day at the RIBA UK Members Forum at the home of Architecture & the RIBA, 66 Portland Place, London. I enjoyed returning again, after nearly 5 years, since I qualified as an Architect in 2019! 🎓How times flown! 🤪😅 Privileged to be asked to speak on behalf of ‘RIBA North’ and share about all the great initiatives the Leeds Society of Architects have successfully delivered since taking the reigns, highlighting the success of the 4 x 4 relaunch earlier this year! 🗣️ It was great to join a host of other brilliant members championing thier own good news stories, for each of their respective regions! 🤩 ⚪️ Gavin Traylor on behalf of the RSAW: ‘Strategic Communications Project’. ⚪️ Caroline Shortt & Roxanne Townsend on behalf of Exeter: ‘Reviving a RIBA branch’. ⚪️ Hamaam Shire & Matt Blakeley on behalf of Birmingham: ‘Listening to a younger voice’. ⚪️ Chun-Li Reid on behalf of the London Region: ‘Cooking with an Architect’. It was also good to hear again about the Humanise.org message delivered by Mat Cash & Abigail Scott Paul to members in attendance, slick as always! 👏 Not forgetting, it was nice to listen to all the exciting plans the RIBA have to improve member experience & engagement while securing the profession & organisation’s future. It was also refreshing to hear the organisation so receptive to all the members suggestions of how to improve the service they receive. 🎉 I guess, watch this space! 👀 A special thank you to dla architecture for supporting me in my role, the RIBA and continued championing of the architectural profession in general. 🙌 RIBA RIBA Yorkshire #architecture #architects #riba #ribamembersforum #community #collaboration
