We were delighted to host Claas Western team and their guests here at the brewery & distillery for a Sprayer Expo day in June. To create our award winning spirits, craft ales and rape seed oil we need energy. Some is produced through our solar panels on site. Heat is produced through using waste wood to feed our biomass boiler. Did you know our estate also grow crops destined for green energy? Harvest 2024 has begun with over five hundred acres of rye. This year it is all being used for green energy. The whole plant is harvested, chopped and stored in sealed sausage shaped agbags for a few months on the edge of the fields where it was grown before being transferred to the anaerobic digester plant in Andover. Anaerobic digestion produces two valuable outputs: biogas and digestate. The energy in biogas can be used like natural gas or to make electricity. With treatment the digestate (residual liquid & solids) can be used for bioplastics or fertiliser. (Biogas is made up of methane, carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulphide, water vapour and traces of other gases.) Sustainability has been at the heart of all we do and plan to do since we first brewed in 2004. Nothing wasted. Jonny one of our brewers had a visit from the Help for Heroes bear this week who came to collect supplies for a fundraising event. Buck decided to explore the orchard during his break, which is beautiful this time of year. With an abundance of flowers and insects is undoubtedly one of the reasons the swallows and house martins return year on year. Bees humming, birds singing, sun shining and the new lemon balm gin launched. If you are in Marlborough area this weekend, pop over and enjoy a drink or two at the Parade Cinema music festival. Ramsbury Distillery have introduced the latest seasonal addition to their award-winning portfolio – Ramsbury Lemon Balm Gin. 🍋 🍸 This vibrant and vivacious spirit is a London Dry Gin like no other; the classic award-winning London Dry Gin botanicals with the freshest Lemon Balm grown on their Wiltshire Estate result in a well-balanced and elevated burst of citrus in time for the British summer. Fresh lemon balm leaves are harvested directly from the Ramsbury Distillery garden and steeped overnight in the still with 12 other botanicals from their award-winning London Dry Gin recipe using the highest quality neutral spirit, made using winter wheat cultivated on the picturesque Ramsbury Estate. The Gin is then distilled in the traditional way keeping only the heart of the distillation which is hand cut by the distillers. This gives a stunning, bright and fresh citrus forward gin perfect for any occasion. Ramsbury Distillery continues to demonstrate their commitment to sustainability through the use of innovative methods including the use of recycled glass, growing ingredients on the estate, an advanced on-site reed irrigation system and continuing to push the boundaries of what is circular within the business. Vincent Speranza sadly passed last year, enjoyed a Ramsbury 506 after completing a commemorative jump in 2023. He is famous for carrying beer in his helmet for injured soldiers during the battle of the Bulge during ww2.
