All electric machinery was used for the first time at an R&A Championship during course set up in Portmarnock last month ⛳ This included mowers for greens, tees, surrounds and fairways in addition to utility vehicles. This move was made at our Women's Amateur Championship and illustrates our commitment to sustainable practices and reduced use of fossil fuels 🏌♀️

A number of golf-related programmes around the world are to benefit from The R&A Foundation’s support thanks to donations generated by a global philanthropy programme ⛳ Since 2023, donors have been invited to support The R&A Foundation and increase the funding reinvested by The R&A into the sport through proceeds from The Open. Our Africa High Performance Programme is being boosted with the provision of golf clubs from Mizuno to help develop talent across the continent ⛳ A key strategy for growing the game of golf across Africa is to increase the number of elite players in the region, to act as an inspiration for aspiring young golfers. Japanese equipment manufacturer Mizuno has come on board to assist in that objective, donating golf equipment to The R&A Foundation which will be used by players in the High Performance Programme. The GolfSixes League international expansion gained momentum over the past 12 months with 20 countries now running the programme designed to encourage young people into playing, enjoying and remaining in the sport ⛳ Six nations joined Great Britain & Ireland in 2022 and another eight nations started GolfSixes League pilots in 2023.
