Meet Aljaž Stajnko, an Android Engineer in our Berlin-based Online Payments tribe. Aljaž and his team drive SumUp's growth by developing a scalable, secure, and global online payments platform essential for Card Not Present (CNP) transactions. They work on a variety of innovative products, including payment links, virtual terminals, and other in-house solutions, empowering small business owners to thrive. "In my role, I innovate and maintain products within our app, and I also get to explore and contribute to technologies and products beyond my primary focus. This diversity keeps my work engaging and enriching. Working in an agile team is incredibly rewarding. We brainstorm to enhance our products, fostering a culture of creativity and collaborative problem-solving. The positive energy in this environment is invigorating. My initial impression during the job interview was already positive, as I was introduced to the company's values and vision in such a comprehensive way. This initial introduction was incredibly attractive and sparked my desire to join the team. From day one, I've been surrounded by a wonderful group of people who make working in a fintech company a lovely experience. I immediately felt comfortable sharing my thoughts and beliefs. We handle various tasks behind the scenes – from office supplies and facilities to coordinating events and fostering a welcoming atmosphere. Our goal is to free up time for SumUppers so they can focus on their core roles without worrying about logistical details. SumUp's mission of empowering small businesses initially attracted me to join the company. As a small business owner myself at the time, I understood the challenges entrepreneurs face and was blown away by how SumUp's products and services addressed those challenges. Since joining, my perception has only strengthened. SumUp's supportive, collaborative culture and commitment to making a difference have been evident and profoundly influenced my professional journey. I've always been encouraged to innovate and bring new ideas to the table. Starting as an assistant and moving to my current role, I've always been motivated to take ownership and proactively suggest improvements.
