Whether you’re a keen cook or prefer to order in, there’s a surprising link between the food in your fridge and your Nest pension. Your morning bowl of Kellogg’s, daily cup of tea and cheeky Cadbury’s bar are more than a tasty treat, they’re also ingredients in your pension pot, helping to build up your pension savings. We’ve teamed up with Great British Bake Off champion, Candice Brown, to reveal the household brands and products that your Nest pension is invested in. #everydayinvestor
About us
Nest is a great UK success story. Established in 2010, Nest is a critical pillar of the Government’s automatic enrolment programme, with a public service obligation (PSO) to accept any employer wishing to use the scheme to discharge their automatic enrolment duties. From a standing start, we have delivered a high quality, low cost pension scheme open to all, which has not only delivered on its mission, but has also helped to drive up standards and best practice across the industry. Now with over 12 million members and well over half a million participating employers, Nest is playing a critical role in helping people save for their retirement - many of them low to moderate earners who may be saving for the first time, and moving jobs frequently. Nest now occupies an important place in the pensions market and will deliver high quality pensions to mass market consumers for many years to come, leveraging its scale to deliver value through the combination of low costs, market leading investment solutions and modernised services all overseen by strong Trustee governance.

Did you catch Nest Insight’s Head of Research, Sope Otulana, talking about our research with households on volatile incomes on yesterday’s BBC You and Yours? She explained how millions of people have incomes that dip and spike, and that many of them find themselves in the position where the challenge of managing their finances means a struggle to work within a system that wasn’t built for them. Our research is finding that people are managing this with tenacity and pragmatism, but there is a real impact on their mental health and their ability to plan. Always having your money on your mind is something we consistently heard from the households who participated in our study. It’s not just financial institutions who have a role to play. Employers can also help people find a rhythm of income that matches the rhythm of their expenses, and policies that support people to build savings could also be more flexible.
