We welcome the Liberal Democrats’ commitment to investing in youth services. The LibDems have vowed to: 👉 Address the underfunding and neglect of children’s mental health services, youth services and youth justice services; 👉 Adopt a public health approach to the epidemic of youth violence which identifies and treats risk factors, rather than just focusing on the symptoms. This means police, teachers, health professionals, youth workers and social services all working closely together to prevent young people falling prey to gangs and violence; 👉 Invest in youth services that are genuinely engaging and reach more young people. “Evidence shows youth work reduces pressure on public services in the short-term. It also shows young people who receive youth work become happier, healthier and wealthier adults compared with those who didn’t receive support. The next Government cannot afford to ignore young people and youth work.” - Jacob Diggle, UK Youth chief impact officer. Read our full response here 👉 https://bit.ly/3Rpw2pH

📒 🚨 Yesterday, the Liberal Democrats released their 2024 manifesto. 💰 They made some key proposals on curbing dirty money, including tightening economic crime legislation and trying to make sanctions more ‘effective’ (see image 1). ✋ They have also proposed various measures to reform our political system - see image 2. And they've said they want to: ⚖️ 🏛 Hold Government Ministers to account for corruption and sleaze by enshrining the Ministerial Code in legislation. 🤝 💷 Take big money out of politics by capping donations to political parties. 📊 💬 This may be of interest to voters who made it clear in our recent large-scale opinion polling with @Survation that they wanted action in the areas of economic crime: https://lnkd.in/grYA96Zs ...and political integrity: https://lnkd.in/ehZChWn4 We look forward to hearing more proposals to tackle dirty money and improve our political systems from other parties, as many manifestos are released throughout this week. #DirtyMoney, #EconomicCrime, #GE24, #GeneralElection2024
