This month our Co-founder and CEO, Karolina Löfqvist, sheds light on the under-discussed issues around women’s fertility with Marie Claire UK’s Mischa Smith. Have you heard of the ‘fertility cliff’? The concept was first popularised by a 1978 Washington Post article (written by a male author), which also coined the phrase ‘biological clocks’, and refers to a perceived dramatic drop-off in a woman’s ability to conceive after reaching her mid-30s. However, the idea of the ‘fertility cliff’ can be overstated or misrepresented, leading to anxiety and pressure for women to conceive before they are ready. With only 2% of global medical funding allocated to women’s health research, at hormona.io we’re helping women to empower themselves with firsthand knowledge about hormones and all aspects of female health. You can read more of Karolina’s insights in Marie Claire’s article: https://lnkd.in/dJahgpgn #WomenHealth #Empowerment

At 33, I feel like I'm standing at the edge of the fertility cliff, but is it even real?

Today, we are so proud to announce that our fourth literature review has just been published under the MPDI umbrella  🚀 In this paper, we explore the impact of endogenous hormones on cognitive function, with a focus on women transitioning through perimenopause. As humans live longer, concerns about cognitive decline and fears about the future are increasing. 📜 The review synthesizes findings from diverse studies exploring the relationships between estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, and other sex hormones and cognitive performance. 🔬 We have to admit that establishing a clear relationship between endogenous hormone levels and cognitive decline is challenging and has been underrepresented in clinical research, particularly for premenopausal and perimenopausal women. 💊 However, it is a promising approach that can offer valuable insights and be particularly beneficial for perimenopausal women by identifying populations that can benefit from early intervention with hormone replacement therapy (HRT). Gaining an understanding of this connection is so important and essential for optimizing interventions and prevention strategies. Big kudos to Anna Targonskaya, MD, Katherine Maslowski and Karolina Wieczorek for this achievement. Read the paper here: https://lnkd.in/gcb4bMk9 #hormones #hormonehealth #femtech #research

"Hormona bridges the gender data gap in hormonal health, going beyond baby making - Hormonal health is more than fertility tracking" A big thank you to Cate Lawrence for her profile piece on Tech.eu, and for speaking with our co-founders  Karolina Löfqvist and Jasmine Tagesson. We at Hormona are keen to accelerate the establishment of hormonal health as an independent medical field to tackle the gender health gap, through our end-to-end solution for addressing hormone-related health issues. Last week, we gathered forward-thinking women from Retail, Logistics, Media, Gaming, PR, and Consulting for an intimate dinner in Stockholm, addressing the topic of Women’s Health support at the workplace. Our guests included a bunch of inspiring women in their respective fields: Emma Korn, Head of Operations at Djerf Avenue Anna Pehrsson, CEO at AFRY Management Consulting Sofia Å., Employee Experience Lead at King Jenni Trennestam, HR Manager at JCDecaux Marianne Boström, Chief People Officer at Acast Jenny Rahm Managing Director Nordics at Acast Åsa Mogerud, Country Lead Sweden at Hill & Knowlton Ylva Ekborn, Head of Postnord Accelerate at PostNord Azra Osmancevic, Former VP Operations Nordics at Viaplay Group The discussions were fantastic, and the room was buzzing with vibrant energy. We're truly grateful for the shared insights and the fruitful discussions that unfolded. So, why did we host this Round Table Dinner? Because it's high time we openly discuss and address Women’s Health in the workplace. Recognizing and supporting women is not just necessary —it can be a game-changer for businesses in terms of increased performance, engagement, retention and employer branding. In fact, surveys show that 1 in 4 women aged 16-29 has been absent from work due to menstrual issues, showcasing a stark reality. Around 89% of employees also report experiencing anxiety or stress in the workplace due to their period, highlighting the wider impact and burden on mental health. A lack of workplace period policies could also be costing businesses over millions per year, as menstrual symptoms cause women to lose on average 8.4 days each year due to lower productivity in the workplace. The thread that ties this together? Healthy, happy employees lead to increased productivity, reduced absenteeism, and a workplace culture that values its people. Supporting women’s health needs isn’t just the right thing to do – it's the smart thing to do. To every woman who joined, thank you for contributing to this meaningful dialogue! ❤️ And to everyone curious to join the conversation, learn more and fill out a form here: https://lnkd.in/dWmae79x #womeninbusiness #hormonalhealth #employmentsupport

This week, we had the privilege of conducting a session on hormone health at the HQ of media powerhouse Perfect Day Media. The morning was dedicated to a thorough exploration of the fundamentals of reproductive hormones and the menstrual cycle, where we also provided practical tips and insights on how to optimize well-being by understanding ones hormone health better. We applaud Perfect Day Media for recognizing the need for this type of initiatives in the workplace. Special kudos to Ebba Nordek for spearheading this initiative! It's an undeniable fact that hormone health directly influences workplace dynamics. The impact transcends economic productivity, extending to women's career progression and earning potential. Prioritizing hormone health is a commitment to fostering a healthier, more equitable work environment. And we encourage more companies to follow suit and pave the way for improved employee well-being and professional growth. #HormoneHealth #WorkplaceWellness #EmployeeWellness
