January 2024 marks the 20th anniversary of Hamilton Hotel Partners’ inception – now proudly Hamilton - Pyramid Europe. It has been an amazing and rewarding journey and I am proud and honoured to have led the team, with my dear friend and co-founder Chris Evans, throughout this period.
Like many businesses we have had to weather a few tough periods along the way - including the GFC, COVID and a couple of recessions – but we have continued to grow and flourish.
We are hugely grateful to our clients who have supported us on our journey, without whom none of this would have been possible. Ranging across institutional investors, sovereign wealth funds, high net worth individuals, family offices and private equity - meeting the needs of the financial owners of our wonderful hospitality industry has always been our primary objective.
Our work has taken us across all of Europe and the Middle East and required us to build and sustain a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic and multi-lingual team. Collectively, they have been, without a doubt, our greatest asset. Building and developing our team over such an extended period has been our proudest achievement. More than ten members of the current leadership team have more than ten years’ service with us and together, they represent and embody the DNA and culture of our business. Thank you!
We are also incredibly proud of our alumni who have spent time with Hamilton and then gone on to have amazing careers in industry – many going on to become clients of the firm. Thanks also must go to those who have stayed with us long enough to retire - Sally Robinson, Tracy Murray, Bettina McLean and Christine Engel. They have been an incredibly important part of our success. Many of this group have worked with me at PKF, Arthur Andersen, IHG and finally Hamilton and richly deserve every happiness in their well-earned retirements! Thank you!
Four years ago, we completed our merger with Pyramid Global Hospitality which was an acknowledgement of our own growth and success on this side of the pond. We have benefitted enormously from the Pyramid Global people, infrastructure and systems and our merger has been an incredibly important part of our continued growth trajectory. We have a shared culture and DNA, and our message externally (and internally) is People First.
Finally, I must also thank the people who have been on the other side of the table – particularly in our asset management role. We have built and sustained constructive and collaborative relationships with all of these teams, and we remain humble at all times so we can continue our profit improvement journey together. Thank you!
There have been many lessons learned along the way (which perhaps deserve a separate post), but I would like to close by reiterating our sincere thanks to everyone who has been a supporter, colleague and client over the last 20 years. Thank you!
