The Formidables Team are into the final few days of the #stepintosummer challenge with Women in Property raising awareness for Smart Works Charity and Women in Sport.
From climbing munros, dancing, walking dogs, lunchtime strolls and after work walks through Edinburgh we've had great fun getting our steps up along with 86 other teams travelling the virtual Continental Challenge from the southern tip of South America to the Royal Observatory in London, which marks the Prime Meridian.
Good luck to everyone for the final few days!! 💪

Not afraid to say the Formidables were exhausted after volunteering to make starter packs with Fresh Start (Scotland) last week 🙂
Their staff and volunteers are dedicated to helping individuals and families transition out of homelessness. Taking donations, sorting items, making starter packs, cooking hot lunches, language tuition, IT skills development and advice sessions are just a few of the services they provide.
An amazing bunch of people making a real difference for people who, literally, have nothing.
We're hoping the additional pairs of hands enabled some folk to receive their packs a bit sooner - thanks for keeping us in order!
Celebrating excellence!
We're proud to share the remarkable achievements of one of our younger members of staff. Though these prestigious awards were gained for projects completed during her final year at University, just before joining our team, they reflect the talent and dedication she brings to Form DC.
Fabulous news and well done Jax!
Delighted to share that two of my university projects, The Geisli Pavilion and Making Peace Meditation Cabins, have won bronze awards in the Student category of the 2023-24 International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers Global Awards Program, Design Distinction Awards! I’m incredibly grateful for this honour and very proud that these projects have been recognised at an international level amongst such talent.

177 Bothwell Street exemplifies Virgin Money's dedication to evolving workstyles and sustainable practices in 2024. By partnering closely with Form Design Form Design Consultants Ltd, we have crafted a dynamic space that promotes in-office collaboration and fosters a strong sense of community.
The foundation of our sustainability strategy lies in longevity, starting with the evaluation of existing furniture for reuse. Our audit identified 50 pieces from ØRN Furniture and Ocee & Four Design, resulting in significant carbon savings and extending the life of these items. For new furniture, we prioritised materials and supplier proximity, opting for locally sourced fabrics, desks, and task chairs, which considerably reduced the project’s overall CO2 transportation emissions.
Working alongside Form Design, we developed bespoke solutions to support Virgin Money's vision of a highly collaborative workspace. This included custom boardroom tables designed to enhance user experience. Additionally, multiple spaces throughout the building are designed for hybrid use, such as the town hall, which serves as a primary gathering point and doubles as a training and yoga space. These areas are furnished with loose mobile tables and chairs, ensuring adaptability for various functions.

On Friday, we bid farewell to Samantha Duncan who, from day one, has been an important member of the Formidables team.
Returning to complete her degree in Interior & Spatial Design, at Edinburgh Napier University, she'll be missed for her positive, unflappable attitude, keenness to learn, take on new challenges and sense of humour! We wish her all the best in her future endeavours.
