Alastair Lewis has been appointed as the new CEO of FIPP. The announcement was made by FIPP Chair Yulia Petrossian Boyle during her opening address at the 46th FIPP World Media Congress taking place in Cascais, Portugal. We are in Cascais getting ready for the FIPP - Connecting Global Media Congress, but behind the scenes, I am already working on the speaker programmes for several other events in the second half of the year. Here's more... #fippcongress takes place next week, 4-6 June, which we at Media Makers Meet - Mx3 are hosting. It's a truly international event with participants from more than 40 markets and diverse media and tech sectors. First up on the speaker programme are FIPP's Yulia Petrossian Boyle and Alastair Lewis, who will provide a "state of the industry" overview. My colleague Jeremy Walters will write a special report post-event to share the top themes that emerged from conversations at Congress. PRCA's UK conference takes place in London on 12 September. This is me branching out a bit from our media and tech conferences to cover the communications and public affairs sectors with James Hewes and his PRCA team. It's fun. We will cover topics such as the culture wars and crisis communication, the rise of political podcasts, mobilising communities, leveraging emotion to enhance communications, and authenticity as the 'new media', to name a few. On 1 October, Mx3 are in Berlin for (Media) Revenue Europe with Lineup Systems, Chartbeat and Tubular Labs. Working with Rolf Rohwer and his colleagues, this conference is all about monetisation strategies for media, including the innovative uses of revenue-, data- and AI technologies. It covers topics such as premium and trustworthy advertising, direct-to-consumer revenues with an emphasis on subscriptions, unlocking social video's revenue potential, and more. After Berlin, we will move to Austin, Texas, for Revenue North America (9 October). Revenue North America will cover topics similar to the Berlin event, but with a US spin. We then return to London for Mx3 Converge: Where Creativity, Commerce, and Code Collide. Mx3 Converge is a four-day summit, taking place from 4-7 November. Each day has a dedicated theme: Day 1 = Content, Day 2 = Audience, Day 3 = Monetisation, Day 4 = AI. Attendees can book either a day pass or join for all four.
