It was indeed a great day and an example of the transformative role of innovative, quality training in prison.

Absolutely delighted to visit HMP Pentonville today to see the XO Bikes Workshop, funded by City & Guilds Foundation. This facility is exactly what we believe should be available in prisons and is an incredible opportunity to equip the men with new skills and choices. Supporting learners in prison and those at risk of entering prison remains a priority for our City & Guilds Foundation. Our focused programmes funded by our Future Skills Commission for Prisons have generated over £10m in social and economic value by helping people gain the skills needed for jobs. These jobs provide different life choices post-prison. A huge thanks to everyone who made today possible, including HMP Pentonville staff, and my amazing team at City & Guilds. Great to also see Diane Abbott supporting the great work. We look forward to hearing about how the innovative training is going and the life-changing stories it will create in the coming weeks, months, and years. #SocialImpact #SkillsChangeLives

What a week we've had! It was a pleasure to welcome two honoured guests to our London office. Firstly, we welcomed a delegation including representatives from the Korea Productivity Center and the 중소벤처기업진흥공단(Korea SMEs Startups Agency) (KOSME), a government organisation dedicated to supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups in South Korea. KOSME organised a visit to the UK for teachers from Korea's specialised high schools. This initiative aims to provide teachers with advanced vocational education and insights into the field of entrepreneurship by experiencing the UK's educational and business environments. We also had the pleasure of welcoming back Ms Lakshmi Venkataraman Venkatesan from the Bharatiya Yuva Shakti Trust (BYST), the renowned not-for-profit organisation that assists disadvantaged Indian youth in developing business ideas into viable enterprises under the guidance of a mentor, with the main objective of turning job seekers into job creators. This visit included a meeting and a podcast recording featuring our Head of Commercial & International Sales, Alan Howard. 🎙️ The podcast explored the value of the Entrepreneur Mentor Training Scheme in India, which City & Guilds has accredited since 2007, and discussed how we can grow our collaboration to support more impactful initiatives. 🤝 Stay tuned for our upcoming episode! 📺 We look forward to seeing both parties again. #CityAndGuilds #InternationalCollaboration #Podcast #FindTiai

I was delighted to attend Learning and Work Institute’s Employment and Skills Convention yesterday in Birmingham. We discussed investment in skills and access to employment in depth, as well as tackling the topic of inequality and how we can open up skills to all. I also spoke on panel 2, ‘Carrots, Sticks and Silver Bullets’, exploring employer investment in skills alongside some fellow skills advocates Naomi Clayton, Jane Gratton, Martin Chandler and Robert West. It was a fantastic discussion! #EmpSkills24 Sarah Turner Bryony Kingsland Olivia Johnston Krishna Parekh (Associate CIPD) Paddy Craven City & Guilds
