I'm sorry you're frustrated with this, and I'm not familiar with SEPTA. It's worth noting, however, that platform assignments in many rail systems are the responsibility of the station operator, which is often (but of course not always) the same entity as operates the train. Thus, platform assignments sometimes change as trains arrive at delayed times, and are shunted to different platforms. Stations I've seen in the UK display signs that direct passengers to specific platforms, but the signs are electronic so their content can be - and is - changed with adjustments to train arrival times.
expanded "flying to Jeju Island" to include "flying to Jeju Province," as flying to Jeju International Airport (on the mainland) and then going directly to the Island is also visa-free.
Not hard at all. The traveler says "This entry is a visit, and I will depart the UK and then re-enter on my student visa when my entry is permitted by the terms of my visa." I agree that it's a triumph of form over substance, but I think it's bureaucratically correct.
I'm sorry you had to endure this. There isn't enough information in your post about why you were refused entry to the UK for us to comment or discuss; Appendix V is long, and contains many requirements and limits and rules, any one of which (or more) might have been applied to you. This refusal of entry to the UK should not affect your entry to any other country...although to enter any other country you must meet that country's immigration requirements.
If a UK driver takes the practical exam (i.e., the on-the-road driving test) in an automatic transmission vehicle, and passes, that driver's license will be endorsed "Automatic Transmission only."
Note that the IDL is only a translation of a person's already-issued driver's license, and is not a driver's license in itself. The IDL is usually only required when the driver's license has non-Roman letters (as, for example, a license from Japan). The IDL must be accompanied by the driver's already-issued regular driver's license. The paragraph in @Burham's answer would be more accurate if it stated "If you are from another country, you will also require an International Driver's License."
Some one-way rentals are vastly cheaper than returns to the same location. Because north-to-south is the vastly more popular direction for travel in New Zealand's South Island, rental companies have a surplus of cars in the south. Renting a car in the south (Dunedin, say) and returning it to Picton at the north end of the island is incredibly inexpensive.
