“My husband is lazy and does no housework!"

Query: My husband does no housework at all! He does not even pick up his plate after having his meal. I feel like his personal butler and it gets overwhelming. I may be a housewife but I have a toddler to take care of. There is no help from his end. When I ask him, he uses his job as an excuse. I don't know what to do. I can't just walk away.

Response by Nidhi Behl Vats, Relationship Expert: The best part is the fact that you understand that you both have equal roles to play.
There are times when men dominate their wives and just refuse to work. While saying this, I must congratulate you that you have won half of the battle. Coming back to the rest of your problems, you can make working together the best moments of your relationship. You can call your wife from the office and say that today I will help you with the kitchen dishes. Offering this help in the first place will relieve her stress. There has to be a balance that you and your wife have to maintain like you both can wash utensils together. You both can wake up early. And help in preparing breakfast together and lunch preparations can be done together.
On your way back home you can bring a samosa or her favourite snack for her. You can ask if there are any groceries/ vegetables to be brought, and you can order them. Try to ask her how her day was.
While you are bound to make mistakes, just ask your wife to help you. Learn to communicate things in a fun way, rather than playing a blame game. You must speak sorry and kiss each other often. These things will help in releasing the stress and will help in developing a better bonding and improves your time together. Remember the fact that there is always a way out of the toughest situation.
