Actress, Dr Sonia Mann met the Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, to request for the cultural development of Punjab and its entertainment industry. According to Sonia, she has requested the minister to establish branches of the National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC), Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), and National School of Drama (NSD) in the state of Punjab.

"It will help our state immensely if we bring these noted institutions to Punjab," she said, adding, "We are not just opening doors for the artiste community, but this is also an opportunity for children of economically weak farmers to provide them equal access to the world of art and cinema. This initiative will play a crucial role in nurturing and showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Punjab on a global stage."
Sonia furthered that her discussions with the minister was constructive and her suggestions are well received. She adds that discussions are under consideration to explore the feasibility of the initiative.
