Texas Performing Arts offers area schools four educational programs designed to inspire the next generation:

  • S.E.A.T. (Students Experiencing the Arts with their Teacher) Ticket Program
  • Broadway Experience for Youth (BEY) Program

SCHOOL DAY PERFORMANCES - Free daytime performances for K-12 youth

Each year Texas Performing Arts offers several daytime performances designed as an educational experience especially for youth. Youth Performances are free of charge for educators and their students. Seating is limited. Make your request today

  • Related standard-based lessons and related in-school presentations offered.
  • Homeschool groups welcome! Please coordinate a group of 10 minimum.
  • Bus parking reservation fee: $25 per bus.
  • Transportation grants are available for bus and parking expenses.
  • Plan on arriving at the theatre at least 30-45 minutes before the show.
  • Plan to depart 30-45 minutes after the show.

Kid Koala - The Storyville Mosquito  (75 min)

A young mosquito leaves his small town in the country to seek fame and fortune in the big city and fulfill his dream of playing in a band.

Watch as a team of 14 performers bring this story to life simultaneously on stage and screen with detailed miniature sets, live puppetry, cinematography, and live music by Kid Koala and a string trio.

Sweet Honey in the Rock (60 min)

One of the most dynamic a cappella groups in the world, this is a quartet of singers whose positive, loving, and socially conscious message combines with theatrical flair to keep audiences returning for more year after year.

Throughout five decades, the ensemble have been international ambassadors of vocal and lyrical excellence. They create engaging and socially conscious music that delivers messages of optimism, faith, pride in self, and love. Their musical landscape embraces multiple genres and generations including a cappella, world, gospel, and folk roots with elements of hip hop, jazz and rhythm & blues.

Versa-Style Street Dance Company  (60 min)

Hip Hop and street dance ensemble, Versa-Style, shines a spotlight on West Coast Hip Hop and the street dance styles that originated in L.A. The uplifting and energetic production pays tribute to leading artists of the ever-evolving global street dance culture that includes Hip Hop, house, popping, locking and more.

Founded in 2005 by Los Angeles natives and co-artistic directors Jackie ”Miss Funk” Lopez and Leigh “Breeze-lee” Foaad, Versa-Style Street Dance Company was created to promote, empower, and celebrate the artistry of Hip Hop and street dance culture.

Versa-Style is recognized for its electrifying performances and inspiring programs for youth and communities. Consisting of committed, highly-skilled street dance artists representing the diversity and beautiful complexity of L.A., the company empowers through the movement and culture of Hip Hop dance.

S.E.A.T. (Students Experiencing the Arts with their Teacher) Ticket Program

Each year a limited number of tickets on our season schedule is set aside for so that teachers, at no cost, can give a small group of students the unique educational experience of seeing a live performance by touring professionals. 

For larger groups, $10 student tickets are available.

We are excited to announce our first offering of a touring Broadway show for K-12 school group audiences only.

Tickets will be $10 each. Duration: 2 hrs, 30 mins with one intermission.

We start selling tickets in August, but you can fill out this preliminary interest form.

BROADWAY EXPERIENCE FOR YOUTH (BEY) PROGRAM

The Broadway Experience for Youth (BEY) program offers free tickets for teachers to bring their students to see a touring Broadway show at Bass Concert Hall, an experience unlike any other. For the 2024-2025 Broadway in Austin season, tickets for this program will be awarded for BEY Nights, every Wednesday performance of each show.*

In addition to simply enjoying the show, students will gain:

  • an understanding of the world of professional Broadway touring productions and career opportunities
  • an opportunity to analyze the the use and effectiveness of direction, acting, vocal performance, technical theatre design, choreography, musical direction, etc. in a professional production
  • an opportunity to experience all aspects of the largest theater venue in Austin, Bass Concert Hall, with seating for over 2,900
