Some of my present Thunderbird files are corrupt and I cannot delete them. How can I create a duplicate Thunderbird and copy just the usable files to it?

1this looks like an X-Y question ... asking for help with a perceived solution to a problem, instead of asking for help with the actual problem– jsotolaCommented Jul 6 at 15:44

how do you know that creating a second instance of Thunderbird will actually solve the problem with the locked files?– jsotolaCommented Jul 6 at 15:46

If files are corrupt check the disk integrity. If it is a recoverable error the problematic files should be deleteable after correcting the error. If not you first need to migrate to a new disk before creating a new Thunderbird profile.– RobertCommented Jul 6 at 16:26

1Which files? executables? saved email messages?? If executables, just make a copy of your Thunderbird Profile; uninstall Thunderbird completely; install T'bird again;' then put your old profile in place.– DrMoishe PippikCommented Jul 7 at 4:00
