I have the above USB card. On Windows it works.

On Mint, though...

So, I got the mini CD that came with the device and there are drivers folders for Windows, MAC OSX and Linux as general...

As there's a install.sh file inside the one that matters for the case, I followed a guide from wikiHow (https://www.wikihow.com/Execute-INSTALL.sh-Files-in-Linux-Using-Terminal) as follows:

After extracting: chmod +x install.sh Then: sudo bash install.sh AND sudo ./install.sh (after got an error on first try)

The result is a bunch of errors along the process: PrintScreen

Does anybody have ideas on how to correct and make the USB Dongle works for Wi-Fi?

PS: I hope making those files available doesn't infringe any CopyRights...

  • So, about this all, I've discovered something... The Realtek I have described is actually the Ethernet (Cable) that I am using... I tried lspci with the dongle plugged and withou it... Now, I am gonna try to find ou why it's not being recognized by the system... I even tried the same USB port as where it, in this very day, has been used...

That will probably generate the following: 

$ sudo make install

Do: 

sudo apt install libelf-dev

Then: 

cd rtl8188fu
make clean
cd
sudo dkms add ./rtl8188fu
sudo dkms install rtl8188fu/1.0

Now, reboot. Your Wi-Fi should now be working!
