I have a Macbook Pro that I use with an external keyboard and mouse. For the moue I am using a Logitech M705. I have noticed that in many applications I can not zoom with my scroll wheel. I think I have tried every single keyboard modifier combination but it won't seem to work. I've tried it in Logic Pro, Chrome, PreSonus Studio One.

I have better touch tools, but mapping CMD+SHIFT+= to a modifier and the scroll wheel has no effect in any application.

In other words, is there a way to simulate pinch to zoom with the scroll wheel?

I made Mac Mouse Fix.

It lets you zoom in or out by scrolling while holding the Command (⌘) key. It works just like pinch-to-zoom on an Apple Trackpad.

It works great in Safari, Logic Pro, and everywhere else where pinch-to-zoom on an Apple Trackpad works.

On top of that it's open source, easy to use, 100% free, and it also has a bunch of other cool features that make your mouse better!

Update

I've made some changes to the pricing model:

  • Mac Mouse Fix 2
Remains 100% free, and I plan to keep supporting it.
    Download
  • The latest version of Mac Mouse Fix
Free for 30 days, costs a few dollars to own.
    Download

Thanks for your support!

By the way: In the latest version of Mac Mouse Fix you can now also zoom in and out by scrolling while holding a mouse button - so you only need one hand. I hope you enjoy the app!

Didn't work for me at all on Monterey with Logitech mx3s. Website version doesn't seem to offer this feature at all. Beta version offers it, but zoom doesn't work in Chrome no matter what key I map the modifier to.

Great app, works well with Logitech G102 Commented May 24, 2023 at 19:22
  • No longer free! Now 30-day trial then you must purchase. Don't think it's worth it personally but maybe others will feel different.

  • Hey @sat0ri, you're right MMF 3 is free for 30 days and costs a few bucks to own. However, MMF 2 will stay free forever and has all the features listed here. You can download MMF 2 here. Thanks for the comment, I should probably update the post. Commented Apr 14 at 19:25

Not quite the same thing as pinch to zoom, but it works more globally: I started using System Settings/Accessibility/Zoom/Use scroll gesture with modifier keys to zoom. Pretty sweet!
