It gives following result.

There are 4 colors and 4 shapes. I want it to be represented by 2 colors and 2 shapes only in this fashion:

1. red circle   : rcp45.Far
2. red triangle : rcp45.Near
3. blue circle  : rcp85.Far
4. blue triangle: rcp85.Near

I referred to a lot of questions here to try to solve my problem but the questions asked here had same variable with both color and shape. I want to have different shape and color for different variables.

Just set them manually:

scale_shape_manual(values = c("rcp45.Far" = 1, "rcp85.Far" = 1,

you can choose your own color and shape by changing the values, hope this helps
