Top tip: don't detail disagreements with old clients under your real name on the internet :)

comment How does anyone know for sure who the Prime Minister is?
@phoog Sure, if you want to completely misunderstand the British system, you can obsess over ceremony rather than reality.

Well, since I'm in Poio, Galicia right now I can say that if you want a warm welcome in Southern Europe you will find it here

@Peter-ReinstateMonica If our monarch was in the business of rejecting unsuitable candidates we'd have been spared at least one, probably two, of the last few. The head of state role of the monarch is entirely ceremonial.

In '74, Heath attempted to form a coalition and only resigned when he was unable to do so. It was still the case that Wilson went to the King when it was already known that he would be PM. The King is not making a decision, he is rubber-stamping a decision already made.

@DanielHatton I would say that's another example of the same point I was making: the Monarch will not appoint the PM until it is clear who the PM is.

This answer deserves to be higher up the list. Even the page for fpassthru says to prefer this option for files you aren't modifying.

comment What is the formal name of this logical fallacy?
@JD Not really. A fallacy is specifically an error of reasoning. There's no particular theory of mine here. If you assert my cat is a dog then you're not engaging in a fallacy, you're just wrong.

@JD I'm not sure what you mean by "personal theory of fallacy"?

comment How are GameManagers created in Unity?
Let me give you some advice from a grumpy old games programmer who has been doing this for forty years: just do it. Don't worry about the best way, just write something that does something. In time you'll learn what works and what doesn't, but you'll never understand that from me or anyone else telling you.

comment Could a Black Market exist in a cashless society (digital currency)?
@Rhymehouse Cryptocurrencies that de facto don't track transactions are trivially easy to implement and exist in the real world. The idea is very simple, you put a coin into the exchange, and you get a randomly chosen coin in return. There's a trace of transactions on the coin, but that trace of transaction cannot be linked to you.

comment If someone clearly believes that he has witnessed something extraordinary very clearly, why is it more reasonable to believe that they hallucinated?
@Rushi Observation is not dogma. There really is no point discussing this with you since you are clearly ignorant of the basic facts of astrophysics. I will not respond further.

@Rushi Your ignorance of science is not really an argument.

@Rushi Equating an observation of reality with a creation myth is a laughable falsehood.

@Rushi That is not what the Big Bang is, nor what it says. In reality, the Big Bang says absolutely nothing about where the mass and energy came from it only describes what happened in the time after that, and that is entirely based on observable evidence.
