Joseph Strauss (January 9, 1870 – May 16, 1938) was an American structural engineer who is most known for designing the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.
Early Life
[change | change source]Joseph Strauss was born in Cincinatti, Ohio in 1870, and grew up writing and reading poetry. His mother played the piano and his father was a painter and a writer. [1] In 1892, Strauss graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in civil engineering. He was the class president.
