About us

EPI-USE is a member of groupelephant.com, a largely employee-owned group of boutique services firms and software companies, nonprofits and impact investment organizations, with a strong global presence. Employing 3,500 people across 40 countries, the Group is characterized by a primary strategic imperative in terms of which it goes ‘Beyond Corporate Purpose’ in its day-to-day activities. EPI-USE is the world’s largest and most experienced independent SAP HCM specialist and has emerged as a leader in designing, building and implementing Cloud-based, hybrid and on-premises HR/Payroll systems for large, complex MNCs, and Public Sector agencies. With a suite covering 41 countries, EPI-USE is the world’s largest independent purveyor of SAP country versions for regions in which SAP does not offer a standard payroll solution. In its 40-plus year history, EPI-USE was involved with more than 1,000 SAP HCM-based solutions worldwide. Through a proprietary range of add-on software products, EPI-USE’s clients have access to world-class productivity tools to enhance their existing or planned implementations of SAP HCM. EPI-USE Labs, the Group’s software arm, also offers non-HR related SAP data management and landscape transformation software & services. groupelephant.com has an unconventional approach to philanthropic activity. Rather than implementing a traditional corporate social responsibility program and simply donating funds to charities, in ‘Beyond Corporate Purpose’ it has a multi-zoned operating model (comprising for-profit, nonprofit and impact investment zones) that provides it with a professional, institutionalized delivery capability in the area of nonprofit activity and impact investment. Primary focus areas are the preservation of at-risk Elephants and Rhinos, through the economic upliftment of rural People in areas adjacent to the threatened species, or another definition of ‘ERP’, if you will. EPI-USE in Brazil engaged by Great Wall Motors (GWM) for first SAP Cloud ALM HR software implementation in Latin America.   EPI-USE in Brazil has successfully completed Latin America's inaugural implementation of HR software using SAP Cloud ALM, for GWM, a recent entrant into the Brazilian motor industry.   GWM sought to enhance its Goals and Performance management through SAP software. The selected modules included Goal Management, Performance Appraisal, Competency Assessment, Potential Assessment and Calibration.   Nikolas Oliveira Carneiro, Senior HRIS Consultant at GWM, highlighted their need for precise monitoring systems to meet aggressive goals, previously managed manually via Excel spreadsheets and email, complicating auditing and reporting.   EPI-USE and GWM executed the project entirely remotely in just eight weeks, utilizing SAP Cloud ALM to streamline operations. ‘The intuitive design of SAP Cloud ALM, available at no extra cost with the SAP Cloud license, significantly eased our implementation.  Its user access levels, centralized activities and clear test plans, ensured a quick and smooth process,’ said Roseli Knysak, Associate Partner at EPI-USE in Brazil.   The implementation has resulted in fully digital goal and performance management at GWM, allowing for the clear alignment of individual, departmental and company-wide goals. The new system provides a more transparent, auditable and traceable process, and a solid foundation for further deployment within GWM, starting with the Mexican operation later this year.   For more information, please contact Roseli Knysak at roseli.knysak@epiuse.com.br. EPI-USE enters into expanded alliance with ReluTech, to enable and accelerate SAP migrations to AWS.   EPI-USE, an Advanced AWS Partner with decades of experience with SAP, recently expanded its relationship with ReluTech, an organization well known for third-party maintenance, hardware procurement, IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) and cloud migration services. Under the new arrangement, ReluTech will finance cloud modernization engagements, leveraging EPI-USE’s Safe Harbor Inclusive of Passage (SHIP) methodology and approach to SAP migrations to AWS.     Using SHIP, EPI-USE’s AWS-certified specialists evaluate a business's SAP landscape, develop a business plan, and run a proof of concept as a prelude to migration to AWS. ReluTech’s asset management staff assess data center asset values at the outset, and during migration, provide maintenance support and manage final asset disposition, post-deployment to the cloud.   Hardware buyback and leasing options address the conundrum of businesses having to pay for new cloud services, while simultaneously having to fund ongoing maintenance of systems targeted for disposal, during a transitional period.   ‘This new arrangement leveraging SHIP, fortifies our value-accretive approach to SAP migrations’, said Carel Bekker, Head of AWS Services at EPI-USE. ‘The partnership with EPI-USE allows for acceleration of cloud migrations through comprehensive data center services, combining our products and services with EPI-USE's AWS expertise and SHIP methodology’ added Seth Hester, CRO of ReluTech.   For more information, please contact Carel Bekker at carel.bekker@epiuse.com. The International Payroll Executives Group (IPX), a multinational payroll user group convened by EPI-USE celebrated its second anniversary at a recent London event.   The conference, hosted by the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), marked the fifth gathering of delegates since IPX’s establishment. Unlike conventional user groups, typically characterized by a single vendor’s technology, IPX is about payroll as a discipline and a function, and is accordingly open to organizations using any payroll technology. It serves as an enabler for collaboration among senior payroll executives from renowned multinationals such as ADM, Boehringer Ingelheim, Diageo, KPMG, LSEG, Meta, Ricoh, SLB, Takeda and Upfield.    The theme for this event was payroll transformation. Raj Hora discussed LSEG’s transformative adoption of AI-driven employee portals to streamline information access and Charlotte O'Driscoll gave insights into the organization’s adoption of the kaizen methodology for process enhancement applied to payroll.  Zsófia Lang of SLB provided an overview of SLB's ambitious plan to consolidate its global payroll systems across over 100 countries onto a single SAP platform by 2030 using agile methodologies, and the program is already well underway.   ‘IPX is proving to be highly beneficial for our payroll function, through my exchange of ideas with my IPX peers’, said Carmen Visone, representing Takeda.   Zsófia from SLB remarked, ‘Our shared experiences and visions not only serve as an inspiration, but they challenge me to strive for excellence in our field.’   The next IPX event is planned for October. For more information, please contact Jan van Rensburg at jan.van.rensburg@epiuse.com.
