Currently studying for a Masters Degree in Aerospace Engineering. My focus is in propulsion - research in plasma & fusion physics for IEC-based fusion drive space propulsion. But I also study hypersonic / reacting flows and boundary layer theory. My undergraduate degree was in Applied Math & Physics, and I minored in Philosophy. Whenever I get time to dabble in other areas of reading or research, I'm also interested in biotechnology, cosmological physics, nanotech, astrodynamics, differential geometry & photovoltaics.
My reading interests are varied but I don't often have the time. I usually go for classics, military history, non-fiction science & mathematics, with the occasional popular fiction thrown in to stay current. My fiance's a zombie/sci-fi fiction writer so I stay pretty caught up with those. My favorite book is probably The Silmarillion and I'm a huge JRRT fan. I've read almost all of the supplementary material & often get into hour-long debates about the finer points of Numenorean history with my father-in-law.
We're fans of a lot of sci-fi/fantasy fandoms: LOTR, Star Trek, BSG, Stargate, Farscape, X-Files, Aliens, & others.
