Email says; "if I do not accept lower value they will send back device to me and you will lose Samsung credit aswell." Has anyone else received an email like this ?

Can I use the watch as a standalone device for other family members? And if it is paired with a note 8 that has no carrier(sim card) but is connected to home wifi will features of watch still work such as gps and to do updates?
