Whenever I try to send a text, it tells me to first make Messages your default messaging app in settings under apps. If I set it to Samsung Messages, it works. But I cannot get it to work with Google Messages. Support has been no help. I have seen a variety of posts about it being an issue, and has been for me since getting the watch. Is there a solution?

Hi cptmo, please try restarting the device, check for updates and try again if it works.

Thank you.

Still nothing? Should I have an option to change the default messaging app on my watch? Because I don't....

Device has been restarted and reset, fully updated many times. No change.

Google Assistant works for me for Texts, Calls and a bunch of other things, ie: Reminders, Calendar Entries, Spotify etc... It just works.

Assistant works for me too. But Bixby, Samsungs own assistant (that I prefer for a few reasons), will not perform the most basic task of sending a text without giving me an issue. This isn't a new thing, it hasn't worked for ages. Is anyone able to successfully send a text on their watch using Bixby with Google Messages as their default texting app?

Bixby may be Samsung's own Assistant, but after an initial push for Bixby, it seems that Samsung is abandoning it, much like Samsung Messages.

I would just use what works for you.. I don't see Samsung putting much effort into Bixby.
