Shortly, the curvature of a Riemannian manifold is a geometric quantity that measures how much the manifold curves. It can be computed from the metric-tensor. general-relativity makes use of the concept of curvature by imposing, through the Einstein field equations, that the curvature of spacetime is determined by means of the stress-energy-momentum-tensor.
